There is precisely no one at GM that is scratching anything regarding the new GT500.

The DSG is interesting (and a bit confusing as the only transmission) but if history is any indicator (esp. S197 GT500 vs. 5G ZL1) the ZL1 will be the track/carver/driver's car and the GT500 more of a Hellcat/Demon.

The way Camaro sales are going there won't be a 7G. This has always been the story of the Camaro. Built for bench racing at the cost of real life :lol:

Theory offered is cost savings. Sorta seems unlikely given the relatively inexpensive and basic S197 GT500 had no such governor, and could reach 190-195 mph.

180 mph is fast enough for 100% of people, but it just seems Ford was a bit confused here.

Does it really matter if it plows into the crowd at 180 mph or 195 mph? Gonna be devastating either way

Three criteria, go fast on a road coarse, go fast on a drag strip, be comfortable to drive on the street.

None of this requires going more that 180 mph; according to Ford.
