It is presumably some Honda (based on your Civic Si being close comment), and it is presumably sold only in some small corner of the Earth, because why post a car that anyone would recognize?

Therefore, it is a Honda Magucko Supreme International Series Brougham.

Kinda sorta like a Honda Pacifica. Went against the Nissan R'Nessa.

If someone else pissed in my panties, I'd have to give them mad props for pulling that off.

Although I'd question why I was wearing panties in the first place.

To be fair you're the kind of guy who would post the same kind of picture of a Geo Prizm or some shit. We'd make some reasonable guesses; "Honda Civic?"

"No."

It would devolve into Fucko Maguckos and we'd end up in much the same situation.

Yeah, but the difference is that if I posted a sliver, it would be of a car that's actually recognizable in its full form. With this one, it's a sliver of something that no one would know anyway, and could never stumble across. With mine -- per my "philosophy" on this, anyway -- you get an "ohhhh yeah!" moment to see where the posted picture becomes something recognizable.

As I see it, you want the things in this thread to be on the fine line between too easy and not worth guessing; the ideal photo is one where everyone knows it looks familiar but can't quite place it. (And where it actually is something familiar, not something that looks familiar but was actually only sold for a year and a half in Croatia or Uruguay.)

So in any event, I'll try for something in line with that tomorrow.

You're just bitching because you don't like 2o6. I don't even see what your beef with him is. We've had GTCC's go on for far longer than this one did, and we've had cars as obscure as this one.

I thought it was a great GTCC because it had me stumped for a long time, as it looked really familiar but I still couldn't tell what it was. It's not 2o6's fault that you want all the GTCC's to be easy cars that you know the answer to...

You're supposed to guess the obscure car. That's at least what I interpreted "Guess the Car Challenge" to mean.

You're far too robotic to PMS like this, iffy. I expect better.

Meh. I'm just stating my preference for something that's easy to guess at even if many of the guesses are wrong. A car that doesn't look like anything that you have to know to correctly guess doesn't make for guesses. In my opinion, it's threads like this one that have killed the activity in this forum section, because it's clear that there's no way to correctly guess it.

But again, I'm only stating a preference, and I think I went out of my way to make it clear that it's a personal preference.

You misunderstand me. Generic isn't a problem; unguessable because no one has heard of it is -- for me -- a problem.

No one gets mad at Colin, or when people post concepts that no one can seem to remember.

I'm not a fan of those either, and have said so. If it's something you look at and know you don't know, you just ignore it, and then the thread sits around without activity. Again, still all just a question of my personal preference. Again, my ideal photo is one that makes you think "oh, I should have recognized that" when the answer comes out.
Title: Re: GTCC 767
Post by: Colin on August 03, 2011, 12:34:13 AM
I agree that the thread sitting around without activity is indeed a Bad Thing.

But there is a balance here.......... is the point of this thread for people to swell their public ego and prove how much they know, or is it possibly to extend further our knowledge of the automotive landscape? if the former, frankly, there is little point, imho, and if the latter, then yes, given the vastly different levels of knowledge of the participants here, some cars will appear obscure to some of the people some of the time. Hopefully, these folk will learn more about a topic which allegedly interests them even if they are not the ones that actually successfully identify the mystery car.

I get you, but I can see the appeal of 2o6's GTCC. Personally, I thought it was a good one. I can see merit in both methods, though.
