I only noticed it because of the collaboration with LRG, but those wheels are badass! How long do you think they would stay clear?
I don't know how long they'll stay clear, but I read that they're really strong(they also sell tham for cars too) and hold up pretty well too stress! I doubt we'll see any cars lapping the 'Ring with them 'tho!

Taking the fender off really cleans the lines up alot! The plate is on a bracket mounted sideways next to the sproket and I got the blinkers intergrated into the taillight.

Do you have pictures of these DIY license plate mounts?  I'm curious to see what they look like, since I can't picture it.

I want to see how you mounted the plate near the sprocket.

Heres one for sale on Ebay. Mine doesn't look this cheap but it'll give you an idea of what I'm talking about. Mine has more of a curve to the plate mounting surface and it puts the plate directlty behind the sprocket.

They just changed the law here in MN saying you had to have your plate mounted horizontally, no more than 30degrees off vertical (straight up and down).

Some samples for Raza to help picture the mounting of a plate further down the tail.

Raza

Thanks, Champ.  That does look a lot better than the stock mount.

Way under the seat (thats how I did my '03 gixxer) or down next to the sprocket like I have mine now.

In Colorado it has to be behind the rear axle line.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

MSF course this weekend...found this bad larry on CL: http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/mcy/843830102.html

Anyone know much about these?  Kinda out of my budget, but neat anyway.

Also, how does this deal sound?  http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/mcy/848127105.html

$4000 for a 19 yr old bike? I've seen much better deals.

The Suzuki GS550 was a fine bike, but that pair looks like a $1000 headache.

Good to know...I suppose it would suck to start my motorcycle career on an unreliable set of wheels.

If I still lived in New Hampster I would hit that with a fury.  As it is, I'd have to have it hauled out sight unseen.

I just wanted to show you great deals are out there. I found that one after a 5 minute search. Expand your craigslist search out to where you can comfortably transport the bike home.

Good call...denver shows a number of newer 250s for sale, but this one stood out as being possibly a decent deal: http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/849301020.html

Another: http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/840987181.html

These things seem to go for a lot...there are a couple of Blasts in town for around 2000, I might go for one of those if they ride nicely enough.

The first one looks like a great deal... a 2006??? I'd offer $2000. You may get it for $2500, which is a better deal than the questionable $2000 one you posted.

Yeah, I think I'll call him up and set up a ride next monday.

$3100 is more than the original MSRP, screw that.

This Nighthawk 750 would be a perfect first bike, and $1900 is a good price http://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/847356832.html
I started on a Suzuki GS750, which is basically the same thing. I wanted a Nighthawk, and almost bought one, but I couldn't find a good deal. The standard style is very easy handling, and very comfortable due to the wide handle bars and straight up riding position. IIRC 750cc I-4 puts out around 70hp - not too much power, but enough to keep it interesting. Overall, it would be about as quick as an EX500 or SV650, but like I said, more comfortable. The I-4 engine is so much smoother than the thumper Blast - this is something you could ride all day and not get sick of it. The only downside to this bike that it's a bit on the heavier side, about 460lbs, 80lbs more than an EX500. The GS750 I had was the same, but I was able to pick it up myself the few times I managed to tip it over.
