Not a fan of the W124 at all, but this one with those wheels looks superb! This one is for sale: $49,999 / 73,681 miles.

Pretend You're A Mob Boss With A Porsche-Built 1991 Mercedes-Benz 500E

While most car enthusiasts associate high-performance Mercedes-Benz models with AMG, there were a number of go-fast models that Mercedes built before AMG came on the scene. One of them was the Mercedes-Benz 500E and a gorgeous example is up for sale from Grand Prix Motors in Portland, Oregon.

In 1989, Mercedes-Benz commissioned Porsche to drastically alter the chassis underpinning the W124 to form the basis of a new performance model. Porsche obliged and strengthened the chassis of each 500 E commissioned to be built before the chassis' were transported by truck to the Mercedes-Benz assembly plant in Sindelfingen to be painted. Once this was done, the cars were sent back to Porsche's Zuffenhausen factory where the drivetrain was fitted before the cars headed back to Mercedes-Benz for final checks.

Each Mercedes-Benz 500E built came with a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine derived from the 500 SL. All up, the car was good for 322 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque and could hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in a very respectable 6.1 seconds as well as a 161.6 mph (260 km/h) top speed.

The example in question is a 1992 model and was one of 4,416 examples manufactured that year. A total of 1,528 examples were sold new in the United States during the car's six-year production run.

Mileage sits at 73,681 miles (118,578 km) and the car looks just as menacing as it did almost three decades ago. Not only does the black paint look very nice but the interior hasn't aged too badly either, save for the excess of wooden accents. The car has an asking price of $49,999.
