They should buy Lotus.

Doesn't Lotus currently tune a few Kia/Hyundias as it is?  That might not be a bad idea.

This sounds bewilderingly true to me

I know Lotus Engineering consulted on the ride tuning for the current Genesis because they failed so bad with my generation Genesis

I got one of the current ones as a rental when mine was in the shop for like a week.  Huge improvement.  Still not class leading or anything, but it was much nicer all around (better ride, much better driving dynamics).

Nope, just your R-Spec.

MrH

???  No, my R-spec did not have Lotus consultation.  My R-Spec is what pushed them to get Lotus involved.

The R-Spec is the only terrible-riding first-gen Genesis.

Evidently it really pissed off the mothership and buying faithful when Hyundai US ended up being the only market to get the Lotus-ified Genesis and how noticeably better it was than Hyundai's own effort.

Depending on price, that could be a good deal.

LOL

Why would it be surprising? Hyundai's last credible dalliance in sports car chassis was with the Hyundai SCoupe.

Reviving this thread. Motor Trend tested a Stinger as part of Best Driver's Car this year, and it didn't embarrass itself: www.motortrend.com/news/kia-stinger-gt-2018-best-drivers-car-contender/ . I'm tempted to replace my G with a 2019 Stinger. Am I crazy?

I think I would rather do the G70 instead.  It looks to be the better product and really benefits from the extra year or so development its had relative the Stinger.  Plus the Sport M/T is like 39K which is a hell of a deal.  And it looks better too, but thats just IMO.

GoCougs

I am contemplating the G70 AWD - Stinger GT is actually a much bigger car.

afty

I wouldn't mind bigger.  I have kids and have to fit car seats in the back.  The G70 does seem to drive better though from the initial reviews.  Also the Genesis ownership experience sounds nice.

1:40 is relevant to this thread

It was worrying that the stock pads were very bad to the point of spinning off the track on the first lap. Makes you wonder about driving on a nice mountain road downhill.

The 370Z years ago had similar issues (not as bad).

Very stupid cost cutting. G's brakes were solid at the track with Hawk 5.0s
