#1 and #3 look cool. I wish I had room to have a project car

I don't think I lust about any old car really. I'll just hang on to the E46. Classics hold no appeal to me. Even an E30 M3. I drove one on mountain roads. Yeah, nice. But old and relatively meh (given the hype).

Sold my '66 beetle over a year ago and now want another vehicle of some kind. The utility of the El Camino would be nice, plus you can buy damn near anything for these old GM cars these days.
If you could get the '69 for around 3k, then dump another 3k into cosmetics, it would sell for a tidy profit. I'd keep driving it till it got boring though.

MX793

If I had the time, money, tools, skills, and space, I'd love to do a resto-modded Ford Maverick.  Much like '65-'69 Mustangs, there's just something about them that I really like.  But much less common than 60s Mustangs, though.

I could see myself buying some old cars in the future. For instance, I have every intention of buying an AP2 S2000 when they're old, ditto an NSX when it's a classic.

If I HAD to get such a car I'd totally go for a big block late '60s/early '70s C-body 2-door sedan such as the Lebaron, Monaco, or Fury. Sure, they're about the size of a city bus but with a mild big block and 3.73 gears it's gonna move pretty good and do some serious burnouts. I totally doll it up in grandma livery and then go hunting for ricers ;).

GoCougs

'68 Monaco (not a fuselage style) but still nifty:  http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/5050872948.html
'71 Fury but with a small block (and custom targa top!):  http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/5032547354.html

Probably. It was a 15 min drive at about 6000ft above sea level. I did it with a friend back when I had just gotten the 1M. We went for a drive and swapped cars.

EVO did a great comparo with the E30 against some other modern heroes with similar specs. One of my favorite articles. I still have the hardcopy by my bed. Anyways, they kind of called it comparable to an ITR and even said it was almost FWD in feel. In its era it was probably a beast but I can see why people are so so about it now. The game has def moved forward.

I still like old cars but with all the modern tech and tires we have now they are a lot of fun to update. You. get all the old smells and feedback with much higher grip and modern damping and bushing tuning. Win win.

Lol, craiglist is a wasteland of delusional idiots and really good examples of how meth screws up your brain.

There are some deals, but there's  a crap load of garbage to sift through. How about a 1963 Rambler American time capsule back to the Kennedy administration for $3500.?  Like this one:

Car is in mint condition, runs great!

Here's one Cougs, looks like the dumbass kid drove it for a while, something broke on it and now it's on CL.

Are parts really hard to get for this one? It's the old Volvo that looks like a 48 Ford.

Rupert

Dude, that Volvo is rad. I think the engine parts are easy to find because it's basically the same engine they used for 30 years, but I would guess body and trim and stuff might be hard. There is a following, though, and surely they have some info that's better than me.

Cougs... this car will be hitting BaT next week in the Seattle area.  440 car.  If you don't buy it we will all be disappoint.

Hells yeah. Get a ~540 cubic inch stroker kit, good heads, a roller cam, and 3.73:1 limited slip, and one would have one helluva dreadnaught.

Rupert

Pretty sure you could mount a turret, weld the bottom half watertight, and take on a dreadnought, actually. That thing might be a straight battleship. You'd need U.S.S. Missouri license plates.

Besides the fact that it doesn't run?

Ghias are pricey and that's a good year.

Secret Chimp

"Does not stay on" = it starts but quits, way easier to figure out than a totally dead motor.

But I don't really get the appeal of Karmann Ghias at all.
