Cool that you actually pulled the trigger on it.  :ohyeah:

I overpaid a little, but I think the ol' bird can be salvaged with some investment and TLC.

The good news is that the lease on my 3 is good until the end of March so I got some time to get it order before it becomes a daily commuter.

Well, it's in my carport now. The trip from Memphis was relatively uneventful.

Rides well. Engine is in good shape. For a 32 year old car, I cannot believe it runs that well. The seats are quite comfortable and finding a good seating position was a breeze. The battery is brand new as I watched them install it at the dealer. I really do not think those buttholes did anything to maintain it. If they did, it was the bare minimum.

The electronics are all in working order, but it looks like the switch mechanisms with which to engage them did not stand the test of time. The cruise button will not lock. The trunk release switch is not functional. The gas door release is also a bit janky. Transmission has a little jerkiness to it at highway speeds. Otherwise, all the power systems work minus the fact that I, at this juncture, do not know how to operate them all (there are a myriad of buttons).

I think the vocal alert system is still intact, but I think they disengaged it somehow as they told me the car would talk to them.

Oh, it has no cup holders or if it does, I have not found it. Apparently Japanese in the 80s did not think that a person might want a cup in his or her ride.

I'll obviously give more impressions after I get it inspected. For now, it's operable.

I love-hate BAT. Lots of cool cars I'd love to have, but there's certainly no bargains there.

Yeah, more just a fun place to scroll through. I guess if you're in the market for something unique that's already in good condition, and you're willing to pay above market for simplicity.

Do they make locking diffs for Miatas?

Lincoln does. I think Miller does, too.

Yep. Made those for maybe two years. The tops are hard to find now and all of them are basically shot.

There's a shop just walking distance from me that does convertible tops. He does mostly boat stuff but he can do anything if you bring him a frame. I'd snap up this Dakota if it were near me.

You're my age.  We're getting old.  Plus, now that you're married, your life expectancy has gone way down, since you're more likely to be poisoned by your wife.

My neighbor (a woman in probably her mid-60s) has a manual All-trac Corolla wagon from that era.

Not actually hers, but looks just like it
