I understand why they have that suspicion, and there might be some truth to it, though the mountain of hard evidence we already have which points to China's practices WRT industrial espionage and collusion between the CCP and industry indicate that China is in a whole different risk category. Imagine what's below the iceberg.

Yes, let's be afraid of a company from Devil China because they're from China. Forget the fact that Google, Apple, Facebook, and the US Gov't already watch everything that we do. China!
I doubt Google, Apple & the rest have communist party committees embedded in their organizational structures à la Huawei.

The US has its problems but painting its institutions morally equivalent to those of a one-party socialist state is going a bit far IMO.

Under Obama-US, or Bush-US yes, but Trump said we are "Almost as bad as China, just smaller," so I would assume for him to act accordingly.

Congratulations on the new car, Wimmer.  I hope you get a lot of driving pleasure from it, preferably at high speed.  :evildude:

Cracked 220 km/h in my car today in COMFORT MODE. Didn't push it further because I am still getting used to it and because of heavy side winds, I backed down after snapping this photo. At this speed and in this mode the car is a little difficult to control, particularly because the suspension is too soft.

On the return trip I selected SPORT MODE, and wow, what a difference, the car drove so much better. The suspension hardened up providing you with more stability at high speeds. Pretty amazing! One downside to sport mode is that the transmission takes longer to shift up, essentially forcing you to manually up-shift most of the time. In fact the transmission won't really shift up until you more or less reach redline. This is not always the case because after awhile the transmission will upshift if it senses that you're cruising. In this mode downshifting is excellent (in comfort mode downshifting is sometimes delayed forcing you to manually shift down using the paddle shifters).

Next time, set the cruise at 220, turn on the lane assist, and take a snooze.

Sorry, but with the US's ability to collect information, plus with an aggressive "America First" doctrine, the rest of the world has to assume that business intelligence will also be collected.

In the US though the government doesn't report to businesses. Businesses aren't owned by the government.

Thankfully, the people in the intelligence community are a little insulated from Congress (the people getting rich from "lobbying" (bribery)) so any intelligence collected doesn't go there.

China is different- the industrial spying goes straight to companies.

I always turn off Lane Assist, Parking Aid (except in the garage) and sometimes ESP.

Why?

Because I find those systems too aggressive. Lane Assist and Parking Aid even spring into action in the city if there's a patch of black ice on the road.

Not bad.

Officially the A250 has a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) but some testers have only reached 243 km/h (152 mph).

My winter tires are limited to 240 km/h.

Just programmed my own Individual driving setup.

I generally keep the car in Comfort mode which is great for most situations. There's only one problem; in this mode at higher speeds on the Autobahn, the suspension is too soft and the steering feedback is a touch too vague. This makes controlling the car difficult. Sport mode takes care of these issues. However, Sport mode is too aggressive in terms of transmission management (you need to manually up-shift or drive near the redline zone for the transmission to automatically up-shift) which means louder engine noise and a higher fuel consumption.

What to do? Create your own mode! Here's what I did.

Transmission Mode: Comfort

Suspension Mode: Sport

Steering Mode: Sport

ESP Mode: Sport

It's incredible and really gives me what I want. One downside to the sport suspension mode is that it's really quite hard/harsh. It does provide you with superb and easy control of the car, but the trade-off is more noise and less comfort, especially on our crappy amateurishly patched-up German road surfaces (don't believe the myth that Germany's roads are all smooth).

I am amazed at how you can feel the different modes take over. I could be cruising in comfort mode with the comfortable suspension and somewhat light steering feedback, then switch to sport mode (or now my Individual mode) and instantly feel the steering feedback and suspension tighten and change in character. Amazing stuff!

One more thing. I love the power this thing has on tap. Overtaking long columns of trucks and slower cars on country roads is a breeze. The A250 is incredibly responsive and accelerates very fast! This is seriously a fast car! I can only imagine how brutal the A35 AMG is and how utterly barbaric and uncivilized the upcoming A45 AMG will be!

Some new late afternoon snapshots. Man, I am so in love.

Can't wait for the summer when the really nice AMG wheels come on!

Did you ever just wish the car had 1 suspension setting that was just right?

In Alfa land the standard non adjustable suspension is about the perfect blend of sport and comfort.  The adaptive suspension is either more comfortable or more sporty... Not sure it's really progress

ROFL, I wonder what you'd say about US roads...

I am not exaggerating when I say the quality of road surfaces here has taken a hit. Even some bridges are at risk of collapsing from increased truck traffic and years of neglect. It's really sad and pathetic how this can happen in this country where we pay hefty taxes.

What really bothers me about Munich and local roads is that for some reason there are sewer covers all over the place. A say 50 meter long stretch of road has like a bazillion sewer covers, and many of them are about an inch below the road surface - makes a nice sound and certainly isn't good for your car's suspension when you have to drive through them (I avoid it if possible and it will look like I am driving drunk!).

Here, the current state of many German roads...

I sure do.

For most situations Comfort Mode is actually pretty good. It's not bad when you drive a little sporty on country roads. It's also good on the Autobahn until you go past 200 km/h (125 mph), then it's simply too soft and suddenly becomes a little floatish.

Sport Mode is ideal for fast driving and for some enthusiastic driving out in the countryside, but it's really harsh and loud, especially on horrible road surfaces.

I am still in awe at how the suspension (and steering feebdack) can change so dramatically at the flick of a button!
