It was a disappointment that they went with the V6, but it got the job done. They woulda had to develop a different V8 to go with that package.
Till the ZR1 showed up......  ;)

Gt500 apparently weights 4225 pounds. Which is some 400 pounds more than a zl1 ccamaro and 600 more than the GT350.

Seems like alot of weight.

FoMoJo

Considering the GT350 is said to weigh 3760 lbs., that's a big difference for, basically, the same platform.

Is it really that surprising though?  The 2013 GT500 was about 400/500 lbs heavier than the 302 Boss of the time.  Superchargers and all their plumbing, additional cooling needs, bigger brakes/tires/wheels, beefed up transmission, etc are all very heavy things that start adding up quick.

All over the nose too. YUCK. GT350 please.

Yeah, no doubt the GT500 is a track monster, but the Gt350 is pretty special.  As well, the 2020 GT350 will get some hand-me-downs from the GT500 that'll make it even more special.

Seems like alot of weight.

SS 1lE: 3,700 lb
GT350: 3,800 lb
ZL1 1LE: 3,875 lb
GT500: 4,225

The weight disparities aren't quite that large, but big enough.

The new GT500, like the last, is more Hellcat than ZL1, and also like the last GT500, confused, esp. now w/out the availability of M/T.

All in all, the S550 Mustang is a good car, but it's a confused car and IMO plays on its legacy (i.e., see C&D this month whereby the new Supra is every bit the performance match of the GT350).

I am amazed at your continued bench racing spec tunnel vision

If the Rustang's performance is such a detriment why is it the to selling sporty coupe?

GT350 was never a dead-dig drag car.  It's geared for road racing.

Ouch - four years on the GT350 still lags the lowly SS 1LE...

Your remark would make more sense if they had compared the Camaro to a GT350 rather than a GT .  As for GT350 vs Supra, apples and oranges; though the GT350 is a far more desirable car.

The driving experience is irrelevant to bench racers.

You have to admit that narrative pretty much went out the door early '90s (aka, debut of the GM LT-1 and 6sp M/T).

Also, don't forget braking, skidpad and lap times...

I was unclear and I apologize; I posted that link to illustrate the Camaro SS 1LE's performance numbers.

Not me; a stock GT makes about 100HP more than plenty of power for the road.

Sounds like a deal...Would you buy a 700-hp 2020 Ford Mustang for $40,000?

Love the color on that blower.

But no. 700 HP on the street is just a way of working out the traction control system.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

700HP is indeed too much.

Looks like the embargo was lifted today.

Handles well, lots of power, snappy transmission, but not as quick as expected, there are quirks in the steering and launch control, and 4,200 lbs and $95k fully loaded is a LOT of car.

But it is amazing you can buy these cars though - ZL1, GT500, Hellcats.
