Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Sets New Nurburgring Lap Record For SUVs
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S has been officially crowned the new SUV King of the 'Ring, after lapping the famous German track in 7 minutes 49.369 seconds.
With Mercedes-AMG Development engineer Markus Hofbauer at the helm and in "autumnal track conditions", as the automaker noted, the top-of-the-line model of the GLC family required only one attempt to set the lap record.

Thus, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S can consider itself quicker than the previous record-holder, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. The Italian SUV completed the course in 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds last year, when it dethroned the Porsche Cayenne Turbo (7:59.74) which, in turn, beat the Range Rover Sport SVR (8:14).
In typical German fashion, the brand based in Affalterbach didn't comment the achievement, but it has released the entire video with the record-breaking run for car enthusiasts to feast their eyes upon.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine shared with other AMG products. In the premium compact SUV, the mill pushes out 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Sports car performance is guaranteed, as the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration is completed in just 3.8 seconds, and top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
Pricing for the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4Matic+ starts at €92,308.30 in Germany, which equals to $105,117 at today's exchange rates.

That's 10 seconds off of the first SLR to lap the track.

Ziss means nossing.... what would an SLR do on modern tires?
To put Ring times in their proper place.... a Civic Type R is over 5 seconds faster. Anyone buying an SUV based on Ring times deserves whatever comes of it
As stupid as I think taking an SUV on the Nurburgring is, I think the GLC is terrific. It's probably my favorite of the small premium CUVs.
I don't know if Cougs still looks at this forum, but I feel like a GLC43 would be a great move for him
The Range time was impressive, but this thing and the Alfa before it are pretty much sedans with a lift and AWD.

Oh I agree, I love the GLC... for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with its ring times
There are a lot of really nice offerings in this segment. The Alfa, all the Germans, the Volvo... All of them are welcome in my driveway
