Title: Jaguar to end F-Type production in 2024
Post by: Madman on October 11, 2023, 01:47:27 PM

The unthinkable will happen sometime next year.  Jaguar will discontinue the F-Type after a decade of production, leaving the venerable British brand without a sports car.

With the XJ being gone since 2019 and now the F-Type soon to go away, it's incredible to think we will soon live in a world where you can no longer buy a large Jaguar saloon or sports car!  All we're left with is crossovers that look like every other crossover ever made plus an EV that in no way resembles anything worthy of the Jaguar name.  No wonder Jaguar is dying a slow death!

I predict within a few years Tata will flog the name to some Chinese washing machine maker and it will reemerge, much like MG in recent years, as a once-iconic badge stuck onto an electric Chinese shitbox.

To me it's similar to the story of Saab. Not as good as the German luxury makes except styling but priced equally high. Also not very reliable.

Land Rover gets away with it because their styling is much better than the Germans, interior quality is stellar for the flagship models, and rich people want to feel even richer like British Royalty on their way to a polo game.

Their EV is a lemon that's not worth buying, too. So it's really just a stable of crossovers.

Your prediction of the badge being resold to China seems very likely to me.
