oh man, HD Theater is airing that UK program "Wheeler Dealers"...tonight's episodes: NA Miata. I've already caught myself browsing autotrader.com :mask:
I just downloaded it to see what it's about. I find it funny they do work on that thing and then sit on the hood and deck lid.
And I have to laugh when they call a fender a "wing."

Vinsanity

haha, well it wasn't going to be their car for long, anyways :tounge:

just after I told myself I wasn't going to buy another car until after I buy a house...maybe I can hold off until I can pay cash for an NC

Just drove the Miata after two days (my dad has been driving it to work so I can borrow the other cars for various reasons).

The Accord feels like a monster truck now. I used to feel that the Accord handled well and was low to the ground, but now it feels like the MDX.

Yeah, I look forward to coming back to my Miata after driving rental cars for extended periods.

I've had people tell me that this one is good.
http://www.rspeed.net/Strut_Tower_Brace_With_Brake_Stopper_Mazda_Miata_p/nab-30980.htm

And as always I think anything made by these guys kick the ass. But they always cost more too.

And this one will mount to the firewall too.

Also if you're ever going to turbo or SC the car then some braces won't work with some things like that.

Rich

Yeah I need to keep the mpgs, so no F/I.  Just want to make things stiffer.  In my googling, I did find that some braces don't work with cars that have cruise control. Thanks!

Onslaught

If you want stiff then this is the ultimate viagra for the MX-5! I'm thinking about it for my car because the 90 Miata is kind of floppy. And my car is 20+ years old now so it's even more so. The NB Miata has something kind of like this already from the factory. But not as near bad ass. The only thing is I never like adding more weight.

Onslaught

Oh, I think you can get a cruse control relocation kit too if you need one.

MX793

There was some guy at the AutoX last weekend with a turbo Miata that was an absolute monster (and looked like it was built from a couple of different Miatas).  I think he had too much power because he really seemed to struggle to keep the back end in line.  At first I thought it was driving style, because it would go through the corner with almost no throttle and then explode out of the corner like the driver was a "WOT or nothing" style driver, but I think it was just really bad turbo lag.

In the next year or two I'm going to fix up my Miata. And I can't decide if I'm going to just keep it NA and work on it to get a little more power out of it for the fun of just working on the motor or go forced induction.
Part of me would feel like a hypocrite for always saying the fun of an MX-5 is not in the power. And then adding all kinds of power to the thing. And then another part of me would like to make it darn fast to shut up
some of my car friends who rag on it for being so slow.
The best would be turning my red car into a rocket and then getting a stock M edition as my pure Miata or something.

How in the hell could Clarkson fit in a NB for much time? He's about my hight and I have problems with the NB even with the top down. With it up it's almost impossible.
It's one of the reasons I never look for a MS MX-5.

That said I hope the MX-5 wins whatever they're doing.

How much weight would a turbo add?

I don't know. I don't think the turbo would be all that much. But the cooler, pipes and all the other stuff would start to add up. And you'd want better cooling for the motor, better stopping because of the increased speed and on and on.

1990 MX-5 A package
Jackson Racing header and high flow converter with stock muffler. I have a JR one for it but took it off a year ago. With the hard top on it sounds good. But with the top down it's just too much. It's like a big fart can.
Thinking about getting a Racing Beat one next. I've been a one and it sounded and looked much better.
1995 Miata brakes front and rear. With brembo rotors. They cost less than the stock ones so what the hell?
Stock Mazda R Package ground effects on front and rear bumper with deck lid spoiler.
Mazdaspeed Steering Wheel.
1993 RX-7 fog lamps and gear shifter leather knob. Thanks totaled RX-7!
1999 Miata 15" five star rims.
Racing Beat springs with Bilstein's
Mazda Hardtop

Best road to drive on? HWY 226A NC

What's next? Well I'm not sure. In some ways I miss the stock feel the car had before I started working on it. I'm either going back to stock or flyin miata the hell out of it. I'd also really think about putting a rotary in it if I had the time. And next spring she's going into the shop and having a restoration started.

Looks great.  Best of the forum.  :praise:

You should LS swap it.  Or turbo 'busa.

Thanks, but I've been around some V8 MX-5's before and I just don't think it fits. I mean I know it will fit into the car. But somehow it just doesn't sound right having that motor in a car that looks like that.

And on to my new base.. this is Anderson Dam not far from my town:

We have a study not far from there. Keep going over the dam, and then up towards Prairie, and you'll drive through the study area. It's just as you start climbing away from the SF Boise River and up to the top of the basalt cliffs.

I'd just gotten done driving around the lake in this pic.  I probably saw one of the roads that led up there on the drive around.

I did pretty bad:

http://srrscca.com/SCCAEventResults/October%2016th,%202010/20101016_fin.htm

But as a small defense, I was running on who knows how old 420 treadwear all seasons.  Made it a TON of fun, but as you can see, I wasn't very fast.

I put winter tires on the Miata today.  The steering used to feel like I was holding a tie rod in each hand.   Turning the steering wheel now feels like I'm submitting a request to the government to turn the front wheels.  Delayed reaction x 10

Eh, that's not too bad.

Just wait until you put even better summer tires on the Miata next spring.

The fact that some badass in a 2007 Forester beat a 1988 M3 in his class says something.

I was going for either that or the fact that since they were both in the mod class, that has to be one awesome LesboWagen.
