Acura Is Offering $20,000 Discounts On 2019 NSXs In The U.S.
The 2019 Acura NSX is being offered with an extremely generous $20,000 discount across the United States, Motor Trend has revealed.
The Japanese car manufacturer says that the discount is available exclusively to 2019 NSX models and will be subtracted from whatever price customers can negotiate for the car.
Prices for the NSX start at $159,300. Thus, if a discerned buyer manages to negotiate a new NSX for $150,000, for example, the supercar's price tag would fall to just $130,000.

Acura quietly introduced the incentive in the middle of March and intends on keeping it until March 31, 2020. That gives potential NSX buyers almost a full year to find the perfect 2019 model and buy it for a ridiculously low price.
Sales of the all-new NSX have never been particularly strong in the United States ,so it's not hard to see why the supercar is being offered with such a significant discount. In 2018, the Japanese car manufacturer sold just 170 units across the country, dramatically down on the 581 examples it shifted back in 2017, and even the 269 sold back in 2016.
The NSX was comprehensively updated for the 2019 model year, and our experience with the car showed that it is now better than ever.
Key modifications made in 2019 included the fitment of new Continental SportContact 6 tires, larger front and rear stabilizer bars, stiffer rear toe link bushings, and numerous software alterations made to the Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system, electric power steering system, and active dampers. Around the Suzuka track, the 2019 NSX is two seconds a lap faster than previous model year NSXs.

$130,000 = "ridiculously low price", apparently...
Honestly, NSX needs a 40-50% price cut across the board to make sense. The only thing more ridiculous than a 200k Acura is a 400k Lexus. At this price point brands matter

It is a good price for a car this capable.
That's an incredible deal. The car is a beast at $160k. At $130k, that's a steal. That's basically competing with a Carrera S.
Yeah but I still can't afford it.
Friends who have driven it loved it. i haven't has the opportunity.

I still think it has to play the GT-R game. Even if it's more capable for the same money, in this realm pedigree still matters. On a purely left-brain basis yes this is the best car in this segment. But who makes a purchase like this in a purely left-brained way?
Had Honda kept the original NSX relevant rather than letting it languish with few changes for 15 years and then finally discontinuing it, the new one might have garnered more interest. But while the original was a worthy Japanese Ferrari fighter in 1990, by 2005, it wasn't even in the conversation. Hell, it had faded from the limelight by 1997 or so.

When they Japanese Do It Right - NSX, LS400, G35, Legend, 240Z, 350Z - they're world beaters, but there are significant problems when it comes to sustaining. Much disappoint.

They can sustain if they want to. Accord, Camry, Corolla. Perhaps not always the absolute pinnacles in their segments, but always near the top for decades.
They just had to keep what worked and fix what didn't. A $100K ~450HP 3200lb hybrid RWD NSX would have been a completely different story.

The problem with the NSX is that Honda let it languish too long with too little effort put into keeping it fresh. If they had discontinued it in '96 while it was still considered "hot" and relevant in its segment, perhaps there would be more nostalgia for it. I honestly didn't realize they sold them as late as they did. You basically stopped hearing about it after 1998, yet it was still being sold well into the noughties. By the time the 2000s rolled around, the NSX was very much like the C4 Corvette of the mid 90s. Except the Corvette had the benefit of 40+ years of history and heritage behind it to let it retain some interest in the marque despite that generation being way too long in the tooth.
There's still nostalgia for it. I think nice ones are trading hands for six figures.
But they really missed an opportunity with the new one... as the market shows.
There's something soulless about this car I can't put my finger on. Doesn't help that it looks like a mid-engine Civic.

Believe it or not, I've always been somewhat of a fan of Honda, but I know what you mean. It does not generate any excitement. It's almost like a half measure car. They need something unique to their brand. I think that the S2000 is a great little car because, for it's class, I put it right on top, but the NSX is just another low-end sort of exotic, imo.

If you take the badges off it could be any of the countless vaporware supercars released over the last decade or so
