So, the Genesis is gone.

I present, the Toyota 4Runner TRD Bro.
Basically got an SR5 premium, but it'll be getting the TRD Pro front grill (says Toyota across the front like the old FJs), either the TRD suspension or something very similar, and probably the wheels and tires.
Genesis had a good run. Almost a year? How steep was depreciation compared to the major discount you already got when it was new?
And congrats!
Sells light GT car, sells fast luxury sedan.....buys big SUV.
Really embracing the suburban wife and kids lifestyle, eh, Mike?
Congrats!
Nice, I love those. On my list for post-college purchases.

Depreciation was pretty rough on the Genesis. Msrp was $48k. I bought it for $32k. 13 months and 22k miles later, I got $25k in trade in.
I had so many issues with the Genesis, I was ready to eat some serious money to dump it. I had more problems with that car in a year than I had with all other cars combined.

A convertible will be joining it at some point too, don't worry.
This is the least suburban dad of all SUVs at least  I can at least play it off as being an off road champ.
Congrats on the bro turd!
So you're gonna rice it up with a fake grill, shiny wheels, over knobby tires, and and do the suspension for your brutal commute to work, never to see dirt? That's a little sad, Mike.
First mod should be sway bar removal. Potholes never felt so smooth.

Meh, it'll see some soft roaring here and there. Nothing serious. Suspension work is cheap and a big upgrade.

You interpret my eye rolling as jealousy? Because you're jealous and can't imagine why someone else wouldn't be? I can think of a few things to criticize me about, evident in just that one post, but being jealous of this truck or envious of something I can't afford (which is an assumption on your part ;) ) aren't in that list.

Hey, it's your car, do what you want. It's pretty nice, congrats. Should have said that first, my bad. :)
But rice (like the grill and wheels) and off-road performance upgrades that you'll never come close to using will earn you nothing but scorn from me.
Nice choice, I love the 4Runner. I'm sure it'll serve you well for 3-6 mos before you trade it for something else.
Nice ride. Skip the suspension upgrade. Best case scenario you don't notice any difference, but more than likely it'll introduce slightly more jar and crash to the ride during 99% of driving, and on the flip side you'll never exceed the off-road capabilities of the stock shocks, especially in Ohio of all places.
Naw, the suspension upgrades aren't extreme by any means. Very slight lift, but the it smooths out the ride even more. I wouldn't bother, but I get them so cheap, I might as well.
As to selling in 6 months: I'll be getting a weekend toy. That'll be my revolving door car  that's a lot cheaper
Nah buddy, you're not going to slap longer off-road shocks, stiffer springs, and big knobby tires on any truck to smooth out the ride. Every review I've read has said basically, "and the ride isn't as bad as you might think," and that it makes it more truck-like.
Like I said, best case scenario you simply don't notice the difference, but more importantly what benefit will it give you? I guess it looks more bad-ass, and that's reason enough for some.
The springs are slightly longer and softer.

1,000 feet of rise over 200 miles doesn't scream "lift me!"
No doubt you have plenty of mud fields and backroad two-track, but The Land 'O Dedicated Locking Diffs and Low Range Trail Climbs it is not.
I wouldn't modify the suspension of my own truck here in Idaho, and I do drive up some steep sketchy roads. Tave is right (and more diplomatic), if it's a lift, it's not going to improve the ride or the handling. Trucks aren't like cars.
Tires are a legit modification from stock, but maybe not what you think. You don't need or want mud tires, period, because they're loud, wear quickly, and handle poorly. Even AT tires have those qualities to some extent compared to regular tires. You definitely don't want skinnier sidewalls. Larger diameter is pretty pointless. I put AT tires as close to stock size as i can get on my own trucks and my work trucks, load range E for the extra plies (though the extra plies also negatively affect the ride).
Wheels and grill, OK, but unlike with cars, such things don't just make the truck personal and interesting, they make the driver a backwards cap poser brobag.
I approve of any and all mods.

I will say that the 4Runner Trail rides noticeably better than the regular 4Runner.
On this topic, if anybody has ever ridden in a Jeep with an OME suspension ( which is at least a couple inches higher than stock on the TJs), then they would know there are lifts that also improve the ride.

Ford wants you to believe you're riding on $9,000 shocks  Kind of a cool product, but it's not all that radical of a design.
What I'm looking at isn't extreme. 1.5" lift at most. Here's what I'm getting:
Ride should be quite a bit better. It's essentially the same setup at the TRD Pro. If I didn't get it for dirt cheap, I might not bother.
Here are my dope mods on the way:
- Armrest console organizer, coin tray thing, Drop Stop (as seen on Shark Tank ), trailer hitch plug
- HID setup from The Retrofit Source (at least this came with projectors. It's simple to do the ballast and bulb swap into the stock projectors)
- LED Foglights w/ yellow tint from The Retrofit Source
- Probably debadging the chrome SR5 badges from the C-pillar today. It's just extra chrome clutter.
If you keep all/most suspension bushings rubber, the ride quality won't suffer. Bushings and sway bars affect ride quality a lot more than springs, in my experience. And upgrading to good monotube shocks will help ride far more than a few more lb/in on the springs.
Let's be honest, lift kits are for looks ;). Along with bigger tires (read: more unsprung weight, sometimes hugely so) ride quality will diminish, esp. bound, float and NVH (tire, wind noise).
Can you do it without a lift?

TOYOTA grill is on. Also debadged the stupid SR5 badges from the C pillars.
Got a few more things I have to work on this weekend. LED bulbs for interior, puddle lights, license plate light, etc.
Also, need to put in the HID system I got from the retrofit source. Bulbs, ballasts, igniters, relays. Also, I've got some yellow tinted LED fog lights to go in too.
Once I'm done with all of that I'll take some new pictures.

My Explorer is a 2007 and has 212,000 kms (132,000 miles) and everything is starting to fail. TPMS sensors are failing, rear window wiper died, front passenger side window has difficulty going up, has a rough idle and sometimes stalls, transmission is acting up with hard shifts and delayed engagement, the interior lights come on whenever I hit a bump or step on the brakes, and the heater core is failing now. Unfortunately, almost all of these issues have popped up in the last 10,000 kms. I'm debating whether to fix everything, or just fix some things, or do I get a new truck because I'm worried about what else will fail after I pay to fix what's currently wrong. It's going to cost nearly as much as what the truck is worth to fix all that is wrong with it right now.

Damn, that is pretty horrible for only having 130k miles. My '91 4Runner had 155k miles and even being 24 years old every switch, light and instrument worked perfectly.
I guess that's why Toyotas command such a premium on the used market.

Well, luckily mine only has 95kish miles, and I'll probably only drive it 8k miles or so per year. Maybe less.
How is the ride now? I just was in a 4Runner as an UberX. I was expecting the ride to be a little worse than something like a Suburban or Tahoe, but it was really rough. Older model than yours, though.
Rides pretty well actually. It's a truck, but it's a world of difference compared to my dad's F150.
Once I get the trd pro stuff on, it'll float over potholes and such. More nose dive and a little more body roll, but I can live with that.
Huh, just seeing this thread for the first time.
What kind of issues did you have with the Genesis? My dad's boss/best friend has had one for a while (6-9 months) and he is pretty happy with it. I have been driven in it a couple times and it seems pretty nice.
I can understand the desire for new cars. Before I bought ym current car I was switching out every 2-3 years (and probably getting bored after a year or so). I think once you find the right car you will likely stick with it. The fact all your cars have been so different tells me you haven't found that right car yet.

I had a ton of lane drift issues. Stereo went haywire constantly, but the dealer could never replicate it so they wouldn't do anything, O2 sensor, some vibrations, and a few other things I forget.
The steering was really goofy in that car. Abnormally heavy in the strangest scenarios. It was really tiring over distance. The seats were terrible too.
So far, I'm really glad I got the 4Runner. Already carried 12 boxes of flooring, miter saw, table saw, a bunch of people, all sorts of things. Tons of utility in a livable package.
Oddly enough, compared to the genesis: better steering feel, brake feel, and ride quality. Pretty sad when a truck based SUV is better in some of the basic feel categories as a "sports sedan".

Cut them some slack -- it was their best effort in 2008. And which full-size cars in the low $30,000s were showing off amazing handling in 2008? 300? Taurus? Avalon? Your expectations may just not have been in line with what's realistic for a relatively affordable car, and I think you're a little over the top in the criticisms. In my experience, the first generation Genesis was generally above average in its class for handling, and you criticized its ride after buying the stiffer-riding sport version.

Probably a valid point regarding driving dynamics, but that doesn't really excuse the reliability issues. Besides, was the Genesis sedan really classified as a "sport sedan"? I know the coupe had sporty intentions, but I thought the sedan was supposed to be more of a luxury cruiser.

It's a luxury cruiser, yes, but he sought out the "R-Spec" version with a stiffer suspension and giant wheels. As reviews noted over the years (including my own), the R-Spec gives up more in ride than it gains in handling. Ride and handling aren't perfect in the regular version either, but ride is smoother than the R-Spec and handling is still above average for full-size affordable cars of that era.
(Just looked up my own review: http://www.examiner.com/article/review-2012-hyundai-genesis-5-0-r-spec-sedan (http://www.examiner.com/article/review-2012-hyundai-genesis-5-0-r-spec-sedan) )
Also, the first-generation Genesis has a decent reliability record -- average in the Consumer Reports survey. There can be a lemon from any automaker.

I'll have to take some this week once I get the salt off. It's a mess right now.
Got all the interior LED lights in but the puddle lights in the side mirrors (those are going to take me awhile). Haven't done the HID headlight kit yet either. Will take some time and the garage is taken up with house renovations right now, so I'll probably wait until the spring.
The new fog lights I got...I got yellow laminX for them. That shit was cheap and looked terrible. I need to decide if I want to spray them with yellow tint paint or not.
I also used Yellow tint for my fogs first, but tore it off and painted them before installing them. Along with the yellow bulbs they looked great. They have faded some though even though I used a clear coat with UV protection.
Yellow tint paint for sure.
It's held up well on my 944.

I prefer whiter/cooler lights in the winter on snow, but yellow is phenomenal elsewise.
Front windows are getting tinted to match the factory OEM tint in the rear on Monday. It's pretty tame, but I just don't like the mismatch. I think everyone said 3M 30% matches pretty much perfectly.

Got the Bro Tank front windows tinted today. Told them to match the OEM tint on the rear. From outside, it looks just about spot on.

But from the inside, it's noticeably darker. It's so different, a quick glance over the shoulder to change lanes bothers me.

The back is darker? The back should be darker. Get used to it? Most SUVs are like that.
Tint the rears darker to match.

Did you even look at the picture? :hammerhead:
Oh, woops, thought the head rest pointed the other way. Derp.
Either tint the rest of the windows to match or pull the tint off the fronts, I think those are really the only two options.
If you look closely you can see the fronts are darker than the rear from the outside as well.

If you told them to match the tint and it ended up being darker, aren't they responsible for removing it and putting new tint on?
I won't make any comments about how douchey front window tint looks though. I just won't make that comment.
I'd ask them to redo it.
If it were the other way around (front lighter) it wouldn't bother me, but having the front that dark would be annoying. Is it hard to see out of when driving at night? I've been in cars with the front tinted so dark it seems like a safety issue at night.
Re the front end, I don't know why they did that to the front end of the base models with the refresh. Looks like shit, probably wouldn't deter me from getting one but you almost need to get the limited now due to that front. The TRD is an improvement I guess.

Yeah, it's easier to see through to the yard on the other side of the car in the rear window than the front.

Yeah, that's the plan. I have to call them and tell them I'm not happy.
The limited front end has waaaaaay too much chrome. I like the interior and options but the exterior looks are rough. It's also very expensive.

Yeah and you don't get that much extra. Basically a rear locker and KDSS which is optional. I have no need for a rear locker. KDSS would be nice to have but not a deal breaker.
I'd rather have the cheaper price and the third row seats.
Matching tint film to actually-tinted glass is like trying to match a factory paint job with vinyl wrap.
The fronts are certainly just ever so slightly darker, both inside and out in those pictures. Not sure how much closer they can get it...I'm guessing they don't have 32.47% tint film or whatever the oddly specific factory tint level is.
My (unfortunate) guess is that even if they bump it a few percent and get the outside to match perfectly, the two will still look slightly different from inside just because one's a film applied to already-treated glass and the other is factory tinted.

Post refesh, the Limited is infinitely better looking than the SR5 sorry. Pizza cutter limited wheels still look goofy though.
They screwed up. The front, even from the outside, is noticeably darker. If they give you problems, have them do the tint meter check on the front window and the back window which all places which do tint should have.
By googling you should be able to figure out what percentage window tint is stock on the back windows and maybe even what brand of tint. Then you should be able to exactly match it up.
I also don't like how they tint the back windows in SUVs darker than the front windows. Plus putting on good quality tint in the front helps prevent the dash and seats from getting hot and helps prevent UV light from frying your face.

Many US states don't allow front window tint by law, so manufacturers often don't bother putting any tinted glass in the fronts and leave it up to the customer.

Yeah that's true. Most states don't enforce as long as the driver is still visible and you're not driving a car with a wing and fart can muffler. My Sonata is tinted all around beyond what the law allows when I lived in NY and the tint shop guy said no one is going to bother you in your POS Sonata.
There's a few nice threads on what people have done to match factory tint in the toyota-4runner.org forum.

Premium gets you better audio (optional on non-premium), pretend leather, power seats, and moon roof (plus a few things I don't really care about).
Trail gets you crawl control, locking rear diff, "lever-type transfer case" (not sure what the alternative is here?), and the option for KDSS (which I've read is pretty awesome, actually).
It's kind of dumb that the 3rd row isn't an option with the Trail though.

The "I dunno, it was like this when I bought it, didn't know, haven't been pulled over for it before" lines will usually get you through the first stop or two.

Still  this thing. Not loving my new commute. The only thing that would get me out of the 4Runner for the foreseeable future is basically an autonomous car that can get me through traffic to and from work, which is still years off.

Laminex is better if you're gonna spray them. Yellow HIDs/LEDs are even better than Laminex cuz you won't lose lumens....
I bought laminX for the fog lights. Tried applying it. It didn't go well. It looks like shit. The laminX was too thick, and the shape of the lens required quite a bit of stretch. It looked off.

Not a fan of paint at all! Did you use a Heat Gun on the LaminX? I have it on my fogs and the heat gun made a big differance! The LamineX laid down perfect with heat. without heat it was a mess! Wrinkles everywhere!!
Yeah you have to heat the shit out of the Lamin-x or else you're in for a bad time.

I think I'll just install them without a yellow tint first and see how they look.

Tempting, but I think I will go with a slight lift. Need to maintain my billy goat dominance in the mall parking lots.
Should get my quote back today on all the suspension goodies for the 4Runner and S2000. Retail is about $1,000 per vehicle. Let's see how much cheaper I end up

I might need a new floor mat myself. The driver side one is all bunched up and won't lay flat anymore. $88.50 to buy directly from BMW, some sites have them for like $76, claiming to be genuine BMW (and they look it too). Not bad.
Weather techs are the absolute bees knees for guarding your carpet underneath from winter. I love how they actually lip over the door sill.
I don't think I'm going to bother swapping to carpet during the non-winter months.

I have some of the custom fit ones for the Explorer. They aren't
quite perfect fit, particularly the front passenger, but other than that they're pretty damn close. I also wish the back seat mats went further under the seats. I like how they have raised edges though - better protection and whatnot.
Pffft. Just remove the carpet and you don't need floor mats.

I got Husky liners for the Civic which are very similar to the Weathertechs. Basically, they're amazing, especially if you live in an area that rains/snows a lot. IIRC, you're in Florida so not sure how rainy it gets by you, but here in Chicago winters and springs it really helps keep the car clean. They fit well and stay in place and water doesn't spill out since it covers whole area. Overall, probably best buy for my car.

It's been a big hit.
Rear shocks came in early! Hopefully get them on next week I think.
So I had to complete the rice transformation. Ripped apart the side mirrors to replace the puddle lights with LEDs. Finally, everything has a clean white glow instead of the dirty yellow.
Just gotta install the suspension, figure out what I want to do with the foglights, and then wheels and tires and I'm done with this for awhile.
So, uh, I got a customized plate. Won't make sense to any of you guys, but the diehard Dayton basketball fans love it. It's kind of the battle cry of the younger fans. It was coined by a very funny and crude blog that writes about the team.

Low D, huh? Gravity doing too much work or something already?
It's actually LOUD, just misspelled. We have some very vocal, asshole old men as fans. One of which is known for misspelling things. "Ware red, be lowd" became kind of a sign off to say to fellow Dayton fans.
It took over twitter. My old roommate is a local news anchor that hosts a post game radio show and such. He talks about it a lot. Dayton daily news even wrote an article about LOWD without even knowing the history
Dlowd?
The D is just our school's logo
Lowd is what it gets at the Dayton Swim Club on Saturday nights.
So the dealership put none stainless bolts in to hold the license plate. Totally rusted to the body. Fucking ridiculous. I've been wrestling with it for awhile now.
Got one out finally after a ton of work. The other is realllllly stuck. Stripped it too much to keep trying the conventional way. Tried a screw extractor kit, didn't work worth a shit. Tried to dremel a flat head slot into it, couldn't get enough surface area on it. Ended up cutting top and bottom off it so I have two flat surfaces to grab. Just been hitting it with PB blaster and going at it with pliers. Got it about 3/4 of a revolution out, so now I can get PB blaster in there better. It's soaking.
Going to have to chase the threads to clean them up, get new hardware and put some anti-seize on them. Fucking license plate bolts shouldn't be this much of a headache
This is the one that came out with relatively few issues
(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160612/3f3c37fd93a6036c7e70460ca0af11a0.jpg)
And here's what was left of the one that was stuck. First three threads were cross threaded. Dealer just jammed it past that. Then it corroded too.
Non-stainless screws are pretty standard for license plates... Looks like the problem was the dummy who cross-threaded it.
Alright, finally got it all cleaned up. Totally gummed up the first few threads. Had to chase them, it's nice and smooth now. Blasted it with anti corrosion goo, and put new hardware in.

And phillips heads are the worst.
All true. I don't think stainless fasteners can be found anywhere on a car, even in places where their reduced strength isn't an issue.
but..... It's "Stainless". So it won't rust....
So I realized there are a few reasons I really like the body-on-frame vs unibody in an SUV:
- It feels incredibly sturdy compared to unibody crossovers. Roads in Ohio are awful, and it feels fine in the 4runner. I can go over railroad tracks and pot holes just fine. Element I'd have to slow down or it'd feel like it would shatter.
- The seating position is very different. You can only make a vehicle so tall. The floor on the 4runner is substantially higher than most unibody crossovers. In order to make enough head room, your feet are much more out in front of you. Most unibodies have a driving position similar to a minivan. The 4Runner has a more car like seating position, just higher in the air.
Also, what do you guys think of this? Stock, the vehicle has a 1" rake (the rear is higher than the front by about 1" - 1.5"). Most install something to level the front. This guy added the suspension I have sitting in the garage, but also included a 2" lift in the rear. This maintains the rake. Is the rear too high here?

I don't think either of those are because it's BOF vs. unibody. I've been in lose feeling BOF trucks, too. And Toyota is known for that car-like seating position in their trucks, going at least as far back as the early '90s. Most trucks have an upright truck-like seating position.

I think I'm going to wait until after winter to do wheels + tires. I already have snow tires that fit on the current wheels, but I want a smaller set for when I buy all terrains.
So I was going to buy the TRD Pro wheels for about $800 for a set of 4. But then I started looking around. Lots of people like the look of the Trail Edition wheels. Found a nice set for $400 in Cincinnati. Might jump on that. Thoughts? Not sure if I like the bright silver. Plastidipped black doesn't look bad at all.

If you want black wheels, why not just get steelies?
Black alloy wheels, too? Are you competing with Rags for most rice on the forum? ;)
Just not sure if I'm sold on the bright silver. A metallic copper color might be cool too. I like the shape a lot more than my SR5 wheels.
Just get some dusty brake pads and let them change color naturally

Don't fool around with PlastiDip! Take it from me! Just have them Powder Coated or painted! Too many peeling issues (as far as wheels go) with Dip! I learned the hard way! Peeled it all off and Painted mine!

I don't think black wheels are ricey. I'mma have black steelies eventually. Ricey would be...19" yellow rims with rubber bandz on a fourRunner.
I mean, at least that would more closely match how he uses it.
Still haven't put the TuRD Pro suspension on. I drive it too regularly to keep it out of action for a few days. I considered paying a shop to do it, but they want $450 to install and align. Seems like a lot to me.

Wow. I was thinking more like $350 with alignment included.
If an alignment is $80 and the shop charges $80-100 per hour, that's about 4 hours of labor to change the suspension. What all needs to be done, again? Springs + shocks + sways? Doesn't sound too far off.
I figured it was because you realized how much of a poser you'd be and decided not to install it after all.

No, just shocks. Rear is simple. Front is independent, so you need to remove the old coils, remove the top mounts, compress the new spring and install the top mount, and then install in the car.
That's the main reason I don't feel like doing it at home. The new springs are huge and require quite a bit of compression and need a serious spring compressor. I don't feel like trying that at home with one of those shitty ones you borrow from autozone.
Alright, need to compete on the Mall Crawler competition.

Silver.
I put black wheels on Versa S because they were cheaper and lighter than the other coloures. Black wheels are for poor people.
Black
Sample pics with your exterior color. IMO, black looks better. The gunmetal is too similar to your exterior (unless there's a third, lighter colored option).

Yeah, I think it's a combination of the lighting (reflection off that near-white driveway) and the black paint rather than Mike's gray.
Yeah, Brodozer Black it is.
Even in those pics I like gunmetal more. But black isn't terrible.

The Genesis apparently had serious issues. I think it was mostly related to the R-Speciness of that particular one. Normal Geneseses seem to be fine.
In typical Hyundai fashion, ride quality was garbage, steering tuning was really bad, suspension geometry caused it to wander everywhere and pull hard with the road crown, and the seats weren't comfortable.

No, you can switch from 2x4 to 4x4 Hi on the move. Have to stop to get into 4x4 Lo though. I just don't have a 4x4 auto setting like you have. Well, at least for driving on snowy/icy roads, on-demand/permanent 4WD (such as the sophisticated systems like that from Infiniti or Audi) are IME superior to conventional fixed/locked 4WD. The ability to direct power front and rear, and sometimes left to right, provides much better traction and performance, esp. when combined with modern stability control. Locked 4WD is going to be better when things get deep, bumpy and slow (which generally isn't what you'll find on roads).

0_o Is this your first flat tire?
I've had a bunch of slow leaks (1 in the protege5, 1 in the Miata, and 1 in the s2k). Don't think I've had a tire completely lose air like that that fast.
That would explain your reaction, then.
FYI, they can probably fix it, so there's no need to get new wheels and tires, though I'm sure you will anyway.
AAA will drive to your house, remove the tire, and plug it. I've got at least three AAA plugs in my summer tires.
I had 2 flats in the Jeep that went down to the rim in about 1 minute while driving...Did a tire change in a bank parking lot and one more adventurous on a back road with no shoulder.
Oddly enough, the Jeep is a big enough of a lard ass that a dead flat really doesn't feel that noticeable while driving

Yeah, pretty much the same for me. Plenty of low pressure situations but never a completely flat tire.
I did once have a blow out. Luckily at the time I owned a B6 Audi A4. At that time the spare tire was actually a fifth wheel with normal tire, so I just put the new wheel/tire on and got the blowout replaced later. Made me wish that all cars could come with a 5th wheel (or even the space for a fifth wheel).
So, I've never had a truck before and had to use the spare. What a cool system!
You go to the back hatch, pop open a compartment in the cargo area. There's a bag with pieces for the jack. You assemble this big metal T shape bar. In the bumper, there's a hole you slide it through. The square end fits into a slot and then you start turning it. There's a pulley with a chain on it that lowers the spare all the way to the ground. Unhook the spare, put it on, and then you can pull the other wheel back up with the pulley.
Is this how every truck does spares?! Am I an idiot for thinking this was cool?
IME yeah. Speaking from experiencing a flat on a mid 2000s suburban in the Kuwait desert.

Oh, You're gonna find minivans to be a special treat!
If you deal with rusty trucks much, that cable on the pulley snaps as you're lowering it, and then you find out the spare is flat anyways because water collects around the rim and rusts the bead away until it won't seal.
I thought it was pretty slick. I was laying on my back under it, thinking I could unbolt something to drop it. Never imagined it was clever enough to be on a pulley
It's a pretty common setup.

I find it to be a pain in the ass.
I like my Jeep and having the wheel stored like a regular car... Keeps road crap off the tire and no worrying about some damn cable or mechanism rusting to hell.
BroRunner wheels will be here Wednesday now. Gotta call tire discounters. I think they'll patch my one tire, buy back my used tires for probably like $100, reuse my tpms sensors, mount and balance bfg ko2 tires, and give me back my stock wheels. Then I sell my stock wheels. Expensive moves, but finally that'll be done. Then just need to install the coilovers in the garage and I'll be done for awhile.

Minivans sometimes the bolt to turn the pulley to lower the cable is inside the passenger space somewhere.
Current Odyssey donut is in a compartment between the front and middle seats, you have to lift bunches of carpet out of the way.
I should see if my spare is still intact. That is, will it still lower/raise in the event I need it.

Tires for the 4Runner: $1k
What kind of tires are you looking at? There are plenty of good tires for less than $250 per. Unless you feel like spending a grand.
BFG KO2 275/70/R17.
That's everything out the door. This is what I'm asking them to do:
- Take old wheels & tires, remove tires, batch one of them
- Rebuild TPMS sensors
- Install TPMS sensors on new wheels
- Mount and balance new tires on new wheels
- Buy back my old tires
- Give me my old wheels without tires on them.
I'll likely get $60-$70 in value for my old tires. So It'll be more like $950 or so.

I didn't wanna be the first to ask...
I don't have BFGs, and they were the same price as the Bridgestone Revos that I did get. More tire than I need, even with my snowy icy 50 mile including a mountain pass commute. Actually, the Revos might be better in snow than the BFGs.
Get the knockoffs if you just want the look and 90% of the performance...General Grabbers.
I'd get the BFGs solely because I like name brand tires.
So many other brands with names that make A/T tires, not that probably even needs to go that far.
Falkens would be acceptable too
I just go to Tire Rack and read a bunch of reviews until I find a good balance between quality and price.

That's some next level 4Runner stuff.
orange one is badass
I actually would like to get a Southern Style Speed front bumper, but not for the price they charge. If they do a large enough group buy to drive the price down significantly, I'd consider.

 now I know why chunky tires like this don't come stuck. Gas mileage took a complete nose dive. Granted it was cold this week, but that's the worst I've seen.
What were you getting/what are you getting

Summer I was getting 19-20 mpg. Winter was around 17-18. Last tank with the new tires: 15.6 mpg
I won't be selling for better gas mileage. Gas costs are a drop in the bucket compared to total vehicle cost.
15MPH? Man you must be crawling everywhere
Consumer reports says this car is less reliable than 2 Audis, a Mercedes, and a turbo Chevy :mask: :pullover:

Oh fuck. I'm guessing they didnt survive? :(
I think they did, but barely.
Can you imagine? Just sitting in your little teal Corolla. Truck falls out of the sky on top of you. Apparently the woman walked away unharmed?
Also, Saturday night. Trying to park at a place to grab a bite to eat. Went behind it, and parking lots weren't connected. I would have had to make a left turn back into traffic, then pull a u-turn to get where I wanted. Instead, I climbed over some big ass parking barriers

Ha, I watched that the other day. Most of his criticism revolves around what's offered for $50k. Fortunately, most 4Runners are no where near $50k, he just happened to drive a fully loaded TRD Pro. Mine is the cheap knock off of a TRD Pro that I got for $36-$37k? Something like that.
I just passed 50k miles. It's holding it's value really well. Can still get $28k-$29k private party. I'm spending $240/month in gas or so if it's hovering around $3/gallon, but I'm making it all back in equity in the vehicle.
