Title: I did it! A project done start to-finish in a resonable amount of time!
Post by: Secret Chimp on May 23, 2008, 01:46:47 PM
Today was the day to get my rusted-out holey midpipe off of my Accord and the new one on. In a moment of despair and the note of a forgotten how-the-hell-do-you-reach-that third cat bolt, I almost relented, but resolved to just drop the whole system from the header outlet while I was on the way to Home Depot for safety glasses (grindin/cuttin involved).
And so I did! Came off of the header easy, entire exhaust was off in a jiffy, and after cutting at the two rusted-over bolts and banging off the remains with my BFH, midpipe free of the cat! Ancient gasket peeled out of the flange! Flange perfectly usable! Sentence clauses!
I have the new midpipe on. And no muffler. But that's coming.
Considering my history with this piece of crap I feel accomplished. 3 hours start to finish!
I also may have two slow oil leaks as both the front and the back of the engine had sheens on them from underneath... not going to do anything about that :P
