You know those clattering damn things are mostly taxis, right?  ;)

But have you considered the possibility that the W123 was the greatest real car ever made, and ever will be made?

First step is to sell Ranger.  That seems to be the one consistent in your plans.

You could tow a mobile home with that.

But it would burn down because of the flames shooting out of the exhaust.

I'm thinking, if I leave myself with Dakota, it could probably tow Fiesta on a dolly. I mean, the 4 cyl is rated 2000#, but whatever.

Where are you towing it to?

Just wherever I move after I finish school. Dakota would be moving truck. One trip with a car dolly, and one trip with a cargo trailer.

I *think* it has a 3.55 rear end, but I could rebuild it with 4.56 or 4.88 gears. That would be some insane 4 cyl pulling power.

Isn't GMC a better towing truck?

It puts out more torque than a 1937 Ford Tow Truck with a flathead V8. So, clearly, Dakota can also be a tow truck.

You know what, though, a little turbocharger would do wonders for Dakota. Srsly. Y not.

Stock brand new Dakota 2.5 = 120 hp/145 torks
Boosted to a weak 5 PSI, a ratio of 1.34 = 161 hp/194 torks
That would make it nearly equal to GMC's 4.3.

Knoe, it woodn't, #1 reason cuz superchargers is be expensive. Also, they is less efficient.
There is plenty of room for terbow pipes n shit. Universal turbo kit is $435 for a T3/T4 and the basics. The I have to fabricate the exhausts and turbo mounting bracket; and buy my own Vortec-style FMU, injectors, wideband O2, spark plugs, oil cooler, remote oil filter mount... n stuff

The Roadkill guys stuffed an old 89 Mustang 5.0 into a rusty old Datsun 260z, then hung a turbo on it from a 6.0 Ford diesel.     It worked pretty well- twisted one of the rear swingaxles out of the Datsun.

I thought that was a 4.3 Chevy, or did they rerebuild it?
Anyway, I'm just thinking 5 PSI, for reliable boost.

With the super cheapness of generic Chinese parts, I figure I can turn "painfully slow" into "adequate" for under $1000, and a few days of labor and tinkering.

They blew up the 4.3, then smashed it with hammers.  ;)
