***Theresienwiese Classic Car Show PART 1***

Attended a classic car even for the first time with the family's 1989 500SL as a registered exhibit (plus another 500SL from our R129 Club). Was a fun day. Our two 500SL's didn't attract as much attention as other cars obviously, but two couples stopped by and were interested in purchasing an R129 SL, so we chatted and they got to sit inside the car, check out the engine etc.












1960 Cadillac Hearse, originally registered in Hollywood and then ended up in Finland for 40 years where the Finns removed the original 6.4-l V8 and transplanted a Chevy 350 (5.7) V8 into it. Loved the patina on this car and the smell of unfiltered carbon monoxide coming from the tailpipes! 























An Oldsmobile Delta 88 Coupe and a Corvette plus a Mercedes 280S Automatic (W108).















Alfa Romeo 1300 Sprint, Volvo  Amazon 123 GT and a Mercedes 220 (W187)



















NSU Sport Prinz Coupe - contrary to popular belief, only the convertible version of this car was powered by a Wankel rotary engine. The coupe was always piston-powered.









AC Cobra and Lancia Delta Integrale - loved that little plaque inside the AC Cobra. 













Late 1970s Mercury Grand Marquis. NOW THIS IS CAR DESIGN! 













Two 1959 Cadillacs with different roofs. The light blue one is a Series 62 with the "sportier roof" while the dark blue one has the roof for the "gentleman who wears hats". Lovely cars!

Would have been cool if this car was owned and used by a Finnish heavy metal band who drove all across the nation with it while storing their instruments inside.

Which American car from the 1950s to the 1970s got the absolute worst fuel economy? I've heard that the early 1970s Lincoln Continental Mark IVs got something like 9 mpg on a good day, and the Stutz Blackhawk was around 8 mpg...

Anything out there that was worse?

I think the Ford 460s were about the worst of the big luxo car engines; you would think the 500 Cadillacs would have been worse, but they weren't.

From what I've read, the 1970s Cadillac Eldorado with the 500cid V8 got better fuel economy than the Lincoln Mark IV with the 460cid (?) V8.

Yes. Significantly better actually. Now, the formal limousine had a lower rear end though, and was probably worse, but I've never found one of those that was running.

It must be nice to be able to attend a classic car show and see a variety of cars and not 95% of it being composed of variants of 3 different muscle cars

Not incredibly rare; but nobody wants a run down limo, so they mostly became motor donors and demolition derby cars.
