BMW to Unveil Hot Z4 M at Detroit Show
Date Posted 10-25-2005
MUNICH ? German sports car specialist BMW said Tuesday that it will formally introduce the much anticipated M edition of its Z4 roadster in early January at the 2006 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The high-performance two-seater goes on sale in spring in North America and Europe. The company said prices in Germany will start at around $63,000, including tax.
BMW will install a high-output version of its twin-cam, 3.2-liter, inline six-cylinder engine, delivering 343 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, the straight-six should propel the M roadster from zero to 60 miles per hour in just under 5 seconds. Top speed will be electronically limited to 155 mph.
To enhance traction and stability, BMW will fit the speed-sensitive variable differential lock from its M3, as well as dynamic stability control. The M roadster gets a new hydraulic power steering unit in place of the electric power steering on the standard Z4. BMW says the hydraulic unit is quicker and more precise. Brakes also are being upgraded.
What this means to you: Enthusiasts won't have to wait much longer for the hot-rod M version of BMW's Z4 roadster. Can a Z4 M Coupe be far behind?
OLD, and where's the coupe?
QuoteOLD, and where's the coupe?
No its not old, I believe these are the first official photos. Think before you just respond.

 I saw it on C/D.
Looks okay, but I wish they would show it in a color other than red. I am not a fan of red cars for some reason. Other than Ferrari's and Corvette's I can't think of any car that looks good in red.

The only car I think looks good in red is the TSX, other than that I don't care for the color at all (dark, dark gray is my color  ). And, the Z4M and its specs look nice.

First of all, I have a Cherokee, not a Grand Cherokee.
Second of all, yes that is the ol' beater pickup behind the Cherokee.
Third, it isn't a K1500, it's a C20.
;)
