Title: M2 Competition...
Post by: MexicoCityM3 on April 14, 2018, 08:55:14 AM
I think this is likely to be the best M since the 1M. I am genuinely excited for it, would be a great addition towards my long term goal of having "one of each number". Would get the manuel as it will be one of the last chances to do so.

Highlights:

- Manuel or DCT
- S55 M engine from the M4 detuned to 404bhp
- Optional larger "track" brakes (steel, not CFRP)

It also seems from the article BMW will keep the price in check.

Awesome, but the M235i is plenty for me, and I prefer the toned down looks.

M240i is a better daily for sure. It sucks that in Mexico the only 2er with a manual available is the M2.

I think the engine in the 240 might be worth the premium over the 235.

Ah my bad... the choices up here now are M230 and M240. I want the 240 with manual. Sucks you don't have the manual choices down there.

Agreed

And with the ZF8 both are 12 second cars. E9x M3 fast with torque. Want factor is very high

Based on visual observation 8/10 BMW F20 1ers here - hatchback, coupe or convertible - are ordered with the automatic transmission.

Most of the E87 1ers I see parked on the side of the streets still have manuals. In fact I'd say it's 8/10 E87s have manuals while only 2/10 have automatics. Again, based on visual observation.

My heart is with the M2, but my brain says 240i.

Coincidentally, I confirmed a couple weeks ago our family of 3 easily fits in the 2er.  I can actually sit in the rear seat behind my wife.  This was extremely surprising... and a scare to my bank account

Oh yea, my buddy has a 228i, 4 of us were comfy in it for a long weekend in the Bay Area. M2xxiA is most likely my next car once the offspring can do forward facing seats.

Every journo complains about the ride of the stock M2.  I can't wait to read their flowerly-I desperately want to be a novelist-description of this one's ride.

Not a fan of the converged blacked out kidney grills... Make it look Korean

Also fearing the cost is exponentially higher resulting it being just another toy for the rich

I hate those fin type growths in the jowls that every new car and SUV seems to have. I'd have to sawzall that shit out.

It seems they are holding down the price on this one. It only increased 2% in the UK. Probably more like 10-15% in the US because it has a lot more standard equipment. They definitely won't let it encroach too much on M3/4 pricing.

Anyone who would pay the same money for those deserves whatever they get. $50K for a CLA45, JFC....
