I'm not sure about the Aerostitch comments, but everything else is pretty spot on. I laughed at the tire comment - my tire is so flat in the center now but looks new on the sides. I hit the twisties almost every weekend but 450 miles of freeway/city a week still makes it impossible for me to get the tire to wear evenly.

Even still, if I ever get a job outside of SF, I'm still going to commute on a motorcycle. Sitting in traffic is dumb.

Lane splitting is such a valuable thing to you because of the ridiculous traffic SF has. If you moved to a city that didn't have such congested roads, then it wouldn't mean nearly as much to you

That's a fair point.

Still though, I'm spoiled by it. I didn't even consider getting a bike in Houston partly because of the SF levels of shitty traffic with no lane splitting (not to mention the even worse drivers there).

Yea we got those in Charlotte too, and a back way to everything else. I drive on twisty two lane roads on my commute probably 30-40% of the time

Yea I used to lane split in NYC when traffic was bad. It's not that bad. Cruiser and sport bike ergonomics def make it more sketch though

I've lanesplit both times I've ridden to LA. It helped shave a couple hours off my trip and wasn't as bad as I expected. I was a little worried since I had side panniers but drivers were a lot kinder than I expected - moving over a little when they saw me coming up.
