I'm warming to the RF's looks, with the roof off.  Roof up, it still looks a bit strange.

There are plenty of auto transport companies that'll ship the car for you. My dad bought his VW in SoCal and shipped it to KY for $500. But if the dealer will do it for $600, that'd probably be easier.

Launch edition color and black look a lot better IMO

Thanks for the honesty. Yeah after looking at more un-shooped gallery shots, I'm inclined to agree.

I think I'd rather just go with a reputable company, even if they are slightly more expensive. I wouldn't want to trust a $35k car to some random dude on uship.

Not in Colorado in January. This week should probably be clear, but next week half the roads could be closed between CO and WA.

I've thought more than once that once the kids grow that buying a truck and shipping cars across country via Uship would be an enjoyable semi-retirement.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

You want to tow three cars across the country with a Ford F350?

There are plenty of big name companies that bid on your business! You pick and choose which one YOU want to deal with! They all have feedback and reviews also. You can also pick to only recieve offers from companies with enclosed trailers also! I've used them 3 times and the service has been excellent each time. With my first C6 it came on a regular car carrier pulled by a Semi, My GSXR was shipped in an enclosed Cargo Van and my Corolla cam on a 3 Car Trailer behind a dually F350. Like I said it's up to you what company you use and how it's shipped.

The obvious solution to avoid snow and mountain blizzards is to cut south west from Ohio and go around Colorado through New Mexico and Arizona and then come up the California coast.

I usually hate red cars, but actually like the soul red on the soft top. Something looks funky on the soul red RF though.

Get a launch edition one! Something different and a little special. Really cool color and interior color too.

4 real tho - haven't prices on the normal convertible been dropping like flies? Seems like it might be worth waiting six months to see if the same happens to the RF.

Evidently the Launch Edition pre-sale is closed. https://www.mazdausa.com/preorder/mx-5-rf-launch-edition

I don't know if that means they've all been sold or if you have to try your luck finding one at a dealer though.

Found a metallic grey GT in CO. Gonna think it over.

How easy is it to match these special paints from Mazda? (soul red and Machine gray)

QuoteTraditionally, achieving such a finish was only possible with hand-painted concept cars using paint containing extremely thin aluminum flakes applied in multiple layers by master craftsmen. By further developing its TAKUMINURI1 painting technology originally created for Soul Red, Mazda has made it possible to achieve the look on mass-production vehicles using a three-coat paint structure consisting of color, reflective and clear coats.2

The reflective layer contains extremely thin, high-brightness aluminum flakes and must be applied very precisely to ensure even coating. During the drying process the thickness of this layer shrinks to approximately 2.5 microns, about one quarter the thickness of most reflective layers. This causes the aluminum flakes to lie flat with regular spacing between each flake, just as if the layer had been hand-painted by a skilled craftsman. This high-density finish gives the entire surface a sheen when illuminated, for a realistic metallic look. Jet-black pigment is used in both the reflective and color layers and is visible through the spaces between the aluminum flakes giving areas not illuminated a black hue and heightening the contrast between light and shadow.

It doesn't sound easy so Maybe budget for some paint protection film?
