First time driving a motorcycle

All of 20ft, just to try it.

My brother got his M license last year and he showed up here yesterday on a BMW 800GS. I know squat about bikes, not sure what year, etc... He just said a lot of people use them as dirt bikes, but this had street rubber on it.

Anyways, a bit tall and heavy for a noob like me I think. I just wanted to get a feel for the hand clutch and basic controls.

Made it the first 5ft, then stalled it misjudging how much clutch travel was left. Clutched in and then just about launched myself over the handle bars as I also misjudged the strength of the front brakes.

Almost got the clutch out completely the second time before running out of driveway and brought it to a more gentle stop that time.

Might look into getting the M license myself just because... I'm not sure I could see myself owning a bike. I can see myself doing something incredibly stupid on one if I had one so...

Fun, eh?  I think a basic dirt bike and hitting the trails is a good way to learn basic riding skills. You can dump it and not cry about damage, falling doesn't hurt as much on dirt, and you have no traffic around you.  Once you get the basics and they become nearly second nature, getting on the street is as simple as applying your traffic knowledge.

Not gonna lie, it was fun. I told him to make sure and keep up in case it went all wrong. I would not be comfortable with that bike to start though, too tall, too heavy, I'd drop the thing for sure. Jessica's brother had a CBR600 F4i ages ago that he had lowered as he is only like 5ft tall, that I could manage without issue.

It's on my list of things to accomplish this year that I'll probably end up being too lazy to do.

You need to hop on a 230L.  Low seat, no balls...

A quick daydream glance at the Honda site and I'm thinking more CB500X. Fuel injected with enough balls to be useful on the highway.

12,000 RPM

CB500x (any of em) are great starters. Weak enough to learn on, strong enough that you won't be bored after a year.
