Governed to due to both aero downforce and tires.

On ramp.
Car in front is doing a rock-steady 38 mph.
Freeway traffic is doing 68 mph.
You are screwed.

YES. I act a little bit of an a$$hole aggressive getting around people to do the cloverleaf- peoplw who I know will not accelerate because I don't have the luxury of horsepower in Miata..

Quote from: GoCougs on July 25, 2024, 10:34:02 PMThis is the most powerful factory ICE-only sports car in the history of the world by a long shot. That it's factory means there is hundreds of millions of $$$ deployed in getting that 1064 hp through the chassis and into the ground. So this is going to really mean something but it's mostly only for GM to brag about selling to the elites, ala 911 Turbo S, Ferrari, Lambo, etc.

Would be nice to see it NOT go down the "road" of the 4,100 lb GT500 or 4,400 lb Hellcat cars (very powerful but excessively bloated versions of their lesser selves). The CZ ZR1 gained 200 lbs vs. the base Stingray (3,350 vs. 3,550 lbs). By that yardstick the C8 ZR1 would come in at 3,750 lbs. We shall see.

It's also not a hot V like most other TT V8s - turbos sit on the exhaust manifolds on either side of the head. From the pics they looks big so that's probably why. I'm also curious how the "anti-lag" works.

Me, I'd take a 6th gen Camaro with the Z06's LT6 and 6 MT (though I'd settle for the DCT) and be happier than a puppy with two peters. This thing will best a Model S Plaid and challenge a Lucid Air Sapphire plus be 1000x more capable in any other scenario than either.

Apparently it's 3,750 lbs dry weight.  Z06 is 3,450 dry weight.  Probably around 200 lbs of fluid for each to get to the curb weight.

The Z06 runs 0-60 in 2.6 sec, and mid 10s in the 1/4 mile.

This adds 300 lbs of weight, but adds nearly 400 hp and loads more torque :wtf:  This kind of power through 2 wheels doesn't make any sense to me.  You're going to be traction limited until you're at totally insane speeds.

It's cool, but I would never buy one over a Z06.

Quote from: GoCougs on July 25, 2024, 11:49:26 PMIf global warming was actually real, this would the archetype of most vehicles on US roads - car, truck or SUV: basic but not a penalty box, not super fancy but has features/functions most would want, standard hybrid powertrain, modest but more-than-adequate power output (C&D got 0-60 mph in 6.8 sec). It's also Toyota's answer to EVs (and IMO, if global warming were real, I think Toyota would have it about right vs. EVs).

This is better left for the politics or general talk section, but the earth did have it's hottest day ever on record last Monday, which beat the previous record which was set on Sunday.

Back on topic I rented a new Toyota Sienna again last week in Florida. In sport mode it was very pleasant to drive and still got great fuel economy. It was also fantastic that there was no start/stop.

Quote from: Morris Minor on July 25, 2024, 02:48:32 PMBrand new 2025 (Gen 9) Toyota Camry LE. A perfect rental appliance that uses amazingly little gas (mid-40s to low-50s mpg.) Base trim gives you a lot - so elevates Toyota in my esteem. Quiet, roomy, easy to drive. logical controls. Decent quality.

Quote from: MrH on July 25, 2024, 12:37:28 PMApparently this isn't even the final form?!  There's another one coming out called the Zora, that will be the ZR-1 + the E-Ray front motor setup.

:wtf:  I don't get it at all.  The Z06 is already so over the top for a street car.
