I've entered a Chrysler sweepstakes where the winner gets $30,000 towards the purchase of any new Chrysler, Jeep, or Dodge. I always sign up for these things when I see them, but this one begs the question: what does Chrysler build that I'd want?
Let's say you have hypothetically won, so you'd need to follow the contest rules. You get to pick any Chrysler product with a sticker price of $30,000 or less. If less, you don't get to keep the difference. You have to pay for taxes/tags/etc. You're allowed to re-sell the vehicle if you so desire.
What do you pick?
Can I get multiple vehicles?
I just built a Charger R/T that comes to $30, 785 (N Package RWD with sunroof) after discounts. I suppose I'd take that.
Or a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (6-speed manual), that comes to $28,315 after discounts.

Don't think so, but why would you want multiple Chryslers?

The sweepstakes require you to go by sticker price.

What do you want, two base-model Calipers?
If I could get a Challenger V6 with a god damn manual transmission, I might go for that.
Otherwise, the Caliper SRT-4 would work for me.

Challenger R/T and gladly pay the difference. Blue or Plum Crazy with the flat black R/T stripes.
i would opt for a dodge challenger (1st pick), dodge charger (2nd), a Jeep Liberty, perhaps... if i could add to the amount, a chrysler 300c or higher priced challenger, jeep commander or any srt-8 challeger, 300c or charger -- or perhaps a grand cherokee srt-8. i also like the chrysler aspen. you have to drive one to appreciate it -- not unlike a cadillac escalade -- SURPRISINGLY!

Yep! Thats the only one I can think of.
On the Dodge website, there is absolutely no way to get a Challenger with a manual transmission. That is retarded.

They might let you make up the difference after $30k. The rules aren't actually clear on that point, and I can't see Chrysler turning away your money.
You'd probably have to pay full sticker to get your $30k rebate though.

Why? I thought it was $30,000 TOWARDS the purchase of a new Chrysler.
That's shockingly challenging. I think I would pretty much have to take a Challenger SE.

You can with the V8s, but not on the V6.
Challenger R/T with a 6 speed is $30,540. Fuck. Well, I would take a Challenger R/T with the goddamn auto = $29,545
How do I enter this thing, BTW?

They were giving out pass codes at the auto show, and they're allegedly at dealerships too. It isn't valid for NY, though.
PA, WV, DE, MD, VA, OH, NC, NJ, DC.

I just figured that out, but that website makes it a real pain in the ass.
Caliper SRT-4, black, leather, sunroof, polished aluminum wheelz, Kickin' stereo, MSRP $27,835.
Challenger R/T is tempting, but I wouldn't want a car like that with an automatic.

Multiple drivers in need of multiple cars.
To your question: Wrangler Rubicon, or the last of the PTs.
I'm trying to get back to the official rules page so anyone who wants can interpret them, but the e-mail they sent me says only "See official rules at Insert Rules link Here for details."
Ahh, Chrysler quality.

QuoteGrand Prize (1): a $30,000 allowance towards the purchase of a new Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep? vehicle. Maximum retail value: $30,000. The allowance may be applied towards the purchase of a single Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep? vehicle of $30,000 or less (including factory options) based on the manufacturer?s suggested retail price.
The rules seem contradictory on the point of whether you can pay extra for extra car, no?
I can't even configure a challenger with a manual here...?
I'd probably get a Ram.

It's cheaper to buy this car in Canada. The same car here is $37,580. According to the exchange rate, the Canadian Challenger should cost $43,620.

Sort of, but it is clear that its only for a single car.
I think its safe to assume its a maximum of $30,000, that you can only apply to car worth less than $30,000.

Caliber SRT-4. A spec-ed out Patriot.

I remember a dealer was selling brand new PT Cruisers for $9995. I can get 3 of them, and sell it for more money than 1 Challenger since lower value cars depreciate less so I can make off with more cash.

The sweepstakes is based on the sticker price. So are most depreciation ratings for that matter, so if you've gotten a car way under sticker its value isn't dropping by as much compared to the sticker.
But depreciation would factor into my choice too -- the Challenger would be in the highest demand for me to re-sell it and pocket $25,000 or so.
Does Chrysler even make a car I'd want right now?
Maybe a Wrangler, SRT-4, or a Dakota...
...other than that, not much is coming to mind...Patriot?

If that's the case then it's a really hard choice. Are Chrysler really doing that bad that they can't even give a car away?
Challenger R/T without a doubt, although the idea of a free utility hauler like a Jeep or a truck is pretty tempting.
Jeep Wrangler, hands down.
I think I would follow ifcar's lead and chose whatever vehicle I could recoup the most value from. That probably means a Challenger R/T AT or a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited optioned right up to $30k.

Me too.
I was thinking that my mom could use a new car, but frankly, I'm not sure that a Dodge Avenger/Chrysler Sebring is much better than a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue.
My dad could probably use a new truck, but the Dakota is a big thirsty pig.
A Wrangler.

I could probably use that as a winter beater, but I'd hate to have to drive it in the summer when gas is expensive and the roads are dry.
Lame. That's when I'd be heading to the Rockies for some offroading. Top down, doors off... fuck man, that's what it's all about. :mrcool:
It's a shame they don't offer it with a I4 anymore; that V6 is thirsty.
A friend of mine who lives in Vancouver came to town last summer and this guy lent her his Unlimited Rubicon. That thing was tits. We had a blast in it: camping, going to the lake, driving over random shit...

It's so heavy and unaerodynamic it doesn't matter if it has a four-banger or six: either way fuel economy will be shite.

EXACTLY. Fuck, I thought for a second I was the only one who understood.
I would get a Challenger R/T, if you can go over the 30K and pay the difference.
Dark Slate Gray leather interior, Dark Titanium Metallic exterior, power sunroof (YES!), 6MT (YES!), Sound Group II, MSRP with Destination minus Bonus Cash = $33,960 ($34,960 without bonus discount). I'd gladly pay the extra over 30K.
If not, that's a tougher choice. I mean, there are no sedans or convertibles or coupes that I would buy from them other than a manual Challenger, so that means I should try to get something a little more practical, right?
(Side note: they still sell the Crossfire? The car on which it's based has been out of production for like five years! And it costs 35 grand!? Fuck!)
If I can't go over 30K, I'd take a Patriot or Wrangler Unlimited.

Dude, just price it for 30k, sell it off for 20k, after taxes, you still net 15k, not bad
