I purchased the OEM spec S front lip for my car.

Looks like it has some issues with fitment from the brand new OEM spec and the older unit. Now it has these weird tabs that slot in the bumper (shown in the pics) whereas the 2007 year cars with the S bodykit didn't have these tabs.
The Japanese instruction manual shows a dremel tool in the illustration, drilling holes in the bumper. Other Yaris owners either have not had issues (no tabs) or they shaved the tabs.
Should I shave the tabs? Should I let my bodyman figure it out? It has all of the other hardware holes in the wheelwell and underneath the bumper.
If you got the Japanese lip (and why else would the insturctions be in Japanese?), they will generally NOT fit domestic front bumpers.
What dilemma?

No, it's the USDM lip. There's just no English instructions. It fits the bottom and side mounts perfectly.
Should I shave the tabs, or just let the bodyman handle it?

Either shave them or cut the holes for them; but if either of those make you nervous, let somebody else do it.

I'm not sure why you guys think it's a rice part, it's the stock lip that's supposed to go on the car. If I were to ever resell the car, I want it to look factory.

The thing is: not 1 person in 50 is going to ever factor that lip into their purchase decision.

A dealer is not going to give you any consideration for it on a trade-in, one way or the other: and a person shopping for a private party used Yaris? They're looking for cheap transportation; whether or not it has all matching original equipment on it won't be amongst their concerns.

Fix the car, do what you want to it, but remember- the VAST majority of time and money spent on cars you will never get more than a small percent worth back. Do it because you enjoy it and want it, don't try to fool yourself otherwise.
Oh and i'd wait and let the bodyshop mount it and paint it with the rest of the bumper...
This is silly. The Yaris ain't worth the effort, and that's totally fine.

I don't even care about whatever it cost him, it's just amusing that this is a dilemma. Just goes to my point that the majority of people should not be allowed to even lift a tool.

Or, that people should be made to early on: and that nobody, nobody should ever look to the internet for advice on how to accomplish relatively simple projects.

Problem is that kids nowadays don't learn the simple tasks. I had to help my dad do a LOT of stuff in the house. Nowadays in our neighborhood it would be hard to go cut a tree down and split/stack firewood. We rent so no painting the house or putting a fence in. My son WILL learn to take care of a yard next summer though. He'll be 14 and wifey paid a lawn guy while I was deployed, screw that!

Do the tabs insert anywhere? If yes, insert them there.
If no, figure out a way to either make the tabs worthwhile or figure out a different way to mount the thing and then you can take the tabs off if you want.
It's not fuckin' rocket science. Figure it out.
