To replace Axnt.
Time to grow up... Only a little.
Will be keeping Mighty Max indefinitely. A beater truck is worth its weight in... scrap metal.
Not a fan of first-gen CTS's. They haven't aged well and the interiors are pretty cheap and shitty.

I know that, and that's why the V is the only option.
What have you tried already?

A nice clean V wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, that's for sure.

I have driven a CTS-V, and found it took a lot of effort, but it was worth it. Very muscle car.
A G35 was very pleasing overall, and good enough for doritos. Only drove an automatic, though.
Have not driven a 3-series or IS.

BMW horses feel stronger!
I'd skip the 335's and go backwards.
15K will get you a damn fine E46 330i ZHP package car........if you can find one.
Wayyyyy better than a E90 IMO.
The G35 is faster and looks better.
But sigh - all N/A motors - those were the days...

I have to admit I don't know the fundamental differences that would make an E46 better than an E90. Please enlighten.

You mentioned used turbo's, the 46's didn't use them. Also, IMO, the interior of the E90 is a gigantic step backwards compared to the E46. However most of the differences are subjective.

Meh, all of the interiors are better than what I'd used to. Differences in driving enthusiasmability, and self-serviceability are more relevant to my interests.

I wouldn't touch the 335i. If you get an E90, stay prefaclift non turbo
The turbo motors start getting really finicky fairly early in their life cycle
The first gen G's have not aged well at all and I wouldn't recommend them since I've heard from plenty of owners of shit going wrong left and right. The IS250 wasn't competitive when new and I doubt you'll be able to find a manual for it anyway. I really like the 328, but you know, BMW reliability. The CTS-V is easily the coolest and you're coming from an Accent so even its shitty interior will be okay.

Something with fuel pumps, too.
That's why I put 328i in the poll. 230hp is reasonable.

I have found a few IS250s locally, but they are low on power. They also look too much like gussied up Camrys.
I'm leaning strongly towards the IS. I also think used Nissan products are generally trash

It lost the C&D comparison. I can't buy a loser. Even the Accent placed 5/7 in the 2007 subcompact comparison.
CTS-V is a class above the rest in power, but probably lower in refinement...the base model is like that.
The IS250 lacks power and is heavy. Like 3300 pounds and only 200 horsepower. Not really getting a lot out of the chassis in that one. Probably very reliable, if it doesn't catch fire. Great looking car and it's aged well. Not a bad choice, really if you don't mind it being slow.

G35 sedan was always blah to look at and hasn't aged well. Clutch and shifter suck. Engine is good. Interior is at best okay. But reliability should be good and it's pretty quick. Probably the best choice here.
I'd prefer the 328i, but it won't be cheap to run.
Why does it have to be a sedan?

I agree about the g37, much better looking.
Any older is300 would be compelling if you can find one.
Otherwise stretching the budget and getting a g37 might be the best bet.

Sedan is because I have a dog kid now. Dog needs to stay in back seat and have his own windows.
Cost to run is not a huge issue, as I can do most of my own work, sans anything that requires expensive proprietary tools.

The only thing I would go much over $15K for is a nice CTS-V. It is just a "special" car.
My Z was a SWB G and it ran great. I would recommend that. Low key non turbo E90s are not bad either but still kind of crap shoots. E46s are crap shoots and 335is are bigger ones. IS250 :wtf: CTS-V is OK if you have a rattling Rubbermaid fetish
But which one will dog like more?
G sedan M/T seems a much better car for you than 350Z - same performance, more practical, far higher refinement.
Love me some pooprod V8 but I'd choose (and did choose) the G over the CTS-V. Better built car overall, plus, at the equivalent price point, a CTS-V will be older/more miles/worse condition.
I so wish I could've opted for a M/T G but I needed AWD. It's a fantastic drive and I think you'll love it - it's much more like a muscle car esp. compared to the ninny lesser models of the 3er or IS ;).

Probably the biggest downside to the lexus is that you will have to overpay for less car. They hold value pretty well.

Just browsing, they seem to be on par with G35s, and less than 328s.
well then give one a try(testdrive) and see if you like it.
I'd assume it would be the more luxurious/reliable vehicle in that group. G would be more sporty and the BMW would combine the luxo and sport in a nice unreliable/maintenance heavy package.

I might like it, as long as Toyota didn't inject too much boring appliance DNA into it.
But G35 is on top so far.

All EVOs under $15K are over 400 miles away, or older than 2005.
The WRX, however, is more plentiful, and available in waggin.
The Impreza interior sucks, however. Accent is better quality. However, the WRX might be more to my liking, overall. However.
My other <$15K option is a new Mitsubishi Mirage!

Problem is prior to the new generation, the C Class has consistently been one of the worst cars for sale in the US for quite some time. Unlike the 3er or A4 or the G or others of the poser class, it offered absolutely zero value proposition - it was like an E Class, except worse in every single way.
I do not find the little Benz particularly appealing. CTS-V is appealing.

CTS-V
CTS-V is one of those cars on which C&D ladels heaps of superlatives when it's new, but when the once generation comes out, they rip on the interior and refinement and parts-binny GMness. I don't know if it's actually good when new, or if C&D just wants to keep their ad accounts happy.
Buddy of mine has a 1st gen. Interior aside it's a good car. Truthfully the first gen G35 is not much better.
I looked at getting a 1st gen CTS-V a while back. I test drove a few, but prices were a bit higher(1-2K) at most of the dealerships than I was willing to pay(ended up in my second evo).
Outside of the interior, which like most GM interiors of the time was functional but nothing special, it was a good car.
It is what it is, a fantastic motor in a normal car. So pretty much what most of the LS motors ended up in. I'd still consider one in the future.
Very fast car, the CTS-V. Good back seat for dog.
Need to sell Accent very fast.
I think it looks pretty good - it was super edgy when it came out, but now it looks pretty restrained compared to dramatic bulgey cars of today.
Especially if the clear plastic around the headlights is buffed out. The car looks crappy with foggy headlights, they are so integral to the shape of the front end.
Well, if you get a Z4, you don't have to look at it while driving it.

With Accent nearly sold, it is so tempting to just not take out another car loan.
