1998 Toyota Corolla LE. 275K and runs like a champ! Cost me $800 from a seller down in Dayton. Only issues are a couple broken door handles and a shimmy above 70mph. Everything works (even the sunroof and CASSETTE Player  ) except the LEDs in the rear wing and the window washers! I already ordered the parts for the Washers ($27) and handles ($12) but have yet to tinker with the LEDs.

Wow. With the gold trim, too.
He gave me a NEW set of gold emblems also!!! :evildude:
Damn yo that's pretty clean.
Thanks! It has a few dings but very little rust! The interior is perfect except for the faded fake wood on the dash!
And it has a wood trimmed dash! Such luxury. Very elite.

Should have told me you were down this way! I would have treated you to Dayton's finest beer and pizza
I'm jealous. I need an El Camino support vehicle. Snowed today and I decided to walk to work instead of getting slush all over the underbody.

I was thinking about a Golf R or Land Rover Discovery, but that might make a nice winter car.

Yeah, it's something you don't have to worry about getting dirty or beat up, plus the AWD system is fantastic. Once it rusts out, just junk it and get another one.

Wow, that is preposterously clean for almost 20 years old and $800.
Especially for an Ohio car.
Watch it tho, these early 1ZZ's like burning oil and throwing rods

The guy told me it goes through a quart or so between changes! I've been keeping an eye on it!
Installed HIDs (restored headlight lens with toothpaste) and LED interior lighting today! Parts to fix the window washers should be here tomorrrow!
LED washer nozzles?
HELL NO! I got them in the other day! Along with a new washer motor! works great!
I hope you at least got gold washer nozzles.
NOPE! Black! Cuz Black Nozzles Matter!!! :mask:
I gotta remove the CB Antenna holder from the trunk when it gets warm!
Well the Cassette player stopped playing fair with my Aux Cassette Adapter! It plays cassettes just fine tho. So I splurged on a MPE/FM head unit from Walmart for the huge sum of $17!! Stay tuned..........
:nono: that's breaking your own rule!
I KNOW! LOL!!!! I really wanted to keep it as original as possible. But I've been listening to 5 cassettes for the past week! I'm about to go nuts...
You gotta hit up a hipster store that sells new cassettes!

One time I was in the car with my dad and the stereo got put on repeat and kept playing the same John Mellencamp song over and over. Took about 5 songs to realize it wasn't just the whole CD playing.

LOLLERSKATES
I used to live downstairs from this girl who was going through a divorce. She played on repeat the same Phil Collins song for about three weeks, about 8 hours a day.
I still have a twitch.

I'd go crazy!!!!! Unless it's an MP3 disc....
Found out what was causing the shimmy Tuesday while doing an oil change. The right front tire had a broken belt. I picked up a used tire for 20 bucks and she drives like a dream. But now I have a new problem. The damn oil filter won't come off! I drained the oil and put fresh oil in until I get a chance to take it to a shop. It's too cold to be fighting with that stupid filter. I'll let the pros do it......
Use the big screwdriver trick.
BFH and screwdriver
That was my first thought but I didn't wanna punch a hole in it and still not get it off!
I think Imma try the "String Alignment" next week!

Make sure you buy four wheel string. You don't want to be dog tracking. Those poor greyhounds.
If you don't want to punch a hole through it, get some sandpaper, rough up the surface and then try to turn dat bish

I tried that too! I even put a pipe wrench on it! Wouldn't budge! It even dented the filter......
Did you warm up the car before trying to remove the filter? I bet the cold winter weather isn't helping.

Yes. Warm it up. What do you use to warm up stuck things? A torch!
Yes the car was warm. Not fully warmed but it idled for about 5 min.....
I used double sided tape...
Like you I didn't want to have an oil filter that was ripped off with part still stuck on. None of the local places sold oil filter tools, and it had a metal outer anyway so i don't think the screwdriver would have worked anyway

?
I've only ever used that on metal ones, and it doesn't leave anything on.
??
I feared i would shear the metal filter off, leaving the screw part on.
Also, trying to get a screwdriver through the oil filter while it's attached to the Miata's engine is undoable unless you take the engine out
never happened to me.

00.9% ... hands
00.7% ... hammer and screwdriver

I have the old fashon filter grabbers and it still wouldn't come off! I also have the a newer one (Plier style) but it's too damn big for the tiny filter the Corolla uses.

I kind of like the K&N filters because they have the nut welded to the end so you can just crack them loose with a wrench or socket.
I don't actually like K&N filters otherwise, though, so I don't use them.

K&N oil filters are better than their air filters says I. I don't buy them because they are $12+. I paid $9 for my ultramega Fram with the textured paint. Versa S is just about the easiest oil change ever, anyway. I could probably do it without jacking it up.
After the H6 swap I can finally stop buying $15 Royal Purple filters. The RP filters are the best if you have an UEL header on your Subaru because the shape actually allows room for your hands.
I just get Bosch or Purolator.

Same. I crank them by hand basically as tight as I can and call it good. If it doesn't feel tight enough, I'll give it an extra 1/4 turn with my filter pliers, but I usually only use the pliers for removal. Hasn't failed me yet.
Had to do the screwdriver trick on my A4 once (dealership tightened it too much, not me). It was scary, because once I punctured the filter with the screwdriver, there was no turning back. I think somebody here told me about the trick. Worked like a charm.
It's recommended to turn it until the gasket contacts the block, then turn it another 3/4 turn. All by hand. Doesn't have to be super tight.

Those are what I buy for my cars!
I usually just get a Fram. Autozone constantly has sales for Valvoline synthetic + filter for $30. I've never had a problem with Fram - probably helps that I change it every 3,000 miles so it doesn't have much time to get messed up.

Same here! I don't understand the hate for Fram! Hell I've used them all my life and my Granddad did too! Not one issue.....
