Title: Clay mitt?
Post by: Speed_Racer on December 29, 2020, 03:11:32 PM
I'm restocking on some detailing supplies for the winter. Does anybody have any experience with clay mitts compared to the standard clay bar? Also, any uncommon detailing tool/products you recommend? My product supply is pretty well-rounded but I'm always open to trying out new stuff.

I know that giant_mtb had some and really liked them. Unfortunately, he doesn't post here anymore.

Never used a clay mitt.  Just a standard clay bar.

An unusual product: if your car has a ceramic coating, Optimum No Rinse car wash is great.  I can wash the S2000 in 15-20 minutes in the garage.

I got a Griot's synthetic clay with foam handle and it works well. I was looking for a mitt but found this at AutoZone so I went for it

I bought a clay bar wash mitt four years ago and love it. I used it to revive the paint on a Prius that was a real mess from having lived outside all its life. The job was super easy and satisfying. Just be sure to follow the instructions & keep it well rinsed out. Recommended.

Sounds like clay bar alternates work great, I'll grab one for my next detailing session
