Now if only we could start seeing these on the streets. I'm tired of seeing the lame baby Broncos, I want to see the real thing.

The Bronco has a much higher manual take rate than the Jeep Wrangler, at least judging from the pre-orders.

I feel like the numbers are probably skewed by diehards.  Once the gotta-have-its get theirs, take rate will probably end up similar to Wrangler.

My GF put in a reservation for 2-door Big Bend this week. Though from what I've heard, it'll be this time next year before she gets it.
When they hit the showrooms in a few weeks she's going to take a closer look and decide whether to keep or cancel but so far she's pretty jazzed about it.

I'm like a 1/4 inch from ordering one as well.
Maybe we need to start off small. I mean, they don't let you fuck the glumpers at Glumpees without a level 4 FuckPass, do they?

This is what keeps me from ordering: including the possibility that next year the manual will be available with the larger engine.

That would make it significantly more appealing.  I can't imagine driving something with 35" tires with a 2 liter turbo.

Wouldn't do 35" tires. If you can't get there on 31s, you're going the wrong way.

There's a difference in off-roaders... ones who are there to take the hard line and spend $$$ to do it and the others (like me) who will take the easy line and just enjoy being out there.

There are; and almost never are the smart ones doing it (taking the hard line) in a rig that does double duty as a daily driver, or is a new, basically stock vehicle.

Better standard equipment for the price.
No death wobble
Not a Chrysler/Stellantis product with Chrysler/Stellantis quality and reliability (Jeep is a perpetual cellar dweller).

It looks better, is considerably a better daily vehicle when it comes to comfort, and its not a Jeep so I don't have to do that stupid wave.

The Jeep club greeting wave or the flag down a tow truck wave?

After a couple failed appointments at our awful local Ford dealer, Melissa was finally able to get a short test drive of a 2-door Badlands.

Pros:
- Ride and handling is leaps and bounds better than the Wrangler. Ride was firm but not choppy.
- Steering & manual trans are pretty darn good
- Survivable rear seat
- It's just plain fun to ride in & drive around

Cons:
- 2.3L ecoboost has some lag at low RPMs but has pep when the turbo kicks in
- Not a fan of the vinyl or waterproof seat material. Sticks to my legs
- If she sticks with what she pre-ordered, they're expecting it to be multiple years until her reservation is built

She's still deciding if she wants to stick with this or explore other vehicles. They could swap her reservation for a stock model if/when they arrive but she'd have to compromise on some features & options. They were also shady about ADMs - they're selling at MSRP on pre-ordered versions but adding +$5k adjustments to floor models. They were shifty about whether a pre-order to floor model conversion would be hit with the $5k ADM. If so, she's calling around and will transfer her pre-order to a dealer that has committed to selling preorders & floor models at MSRP and go with that.

You have to wonder if this will finally force the Wrangler to evolve into a vehicle that at least resembles something made in the last 30 years

Insane popularity! From what I've read, they have close to 200k official pre-orders ($100 deposit) but the salesperson said they're only going to get 80k off the factory line each year.

Hehheh they're both keepers ;)

If it were me I'd wait too. But ideally she's looking to buy something fun in the next 6-12 months. Waiting 24-36+ until demand dies down would probably have her buy something else. If the Bronco is anything like the Wrangler, used prices will be crazy so that's not a great option.

About time! We spent some time in our friend's brand new Wrangler 4-door and it is a brutal ride. Why would you buy it for commuting?! It's too bad because the 4xe hybrid is a pretty cool deal

I think I read they're getting like a 60-65% conversion rate on preorders for Bronco. It might get less after they get through the die hard fans that reserved in the first few hours.

I put in a reservation for a Lightning, so I'm curious how this will play out for Bronco.

I know another guy with a Lightning reservation. He's really not a truck guy, but the spec sheet and price were just too enticing. Lots of possibilities with that enormous battery.

I would buy one if I could afford another damn monthly payment. The powertrain is from the new Ranger, shouldn't be too many bugs. It would be a special order, Ford always delivers the optioned up ones first. I want a base model.
