The E84 wasn't very good IMO.

It was sharp to drive, but bad at everything else

I'm comparing this to my mom's old F31, I've never driven an E84.

The E84 reminds me of the Gen 1 x3 but lower to the ground, and with iDrive.

So, kind of a shitbox.

Isn't fluoride also way more available in the world too? I.e. extra good for the environment since we could cut down on lithium mining?

Fluoride is way more reactive too. I wonder if battery breaches would be even more toxic/entertaining/explosive.

This could be cool:

I think the important takeaway is that very smart people are working on it, even if they haven't solved it yet.

I would think that battery development is at its very early stages; as it was largely ignored during the 20th century.

The most important part of developing any car is trying to fit a massive grille to the front end, and the biggest wheels that the engineers will allow. Nobody buys cars, anymore. They buy grilles with wheels.

The larger grille area permits larger brand logos.  That 3'x2' illuminated logo on the grille needs to be a beacon to all within a half mile.

I am awaiting the lit roof-mounted logo, a la any pizza delivery car. Get with the program, automakers.

So Subie was smelling of gas - apparently it was just some lose clamps but they looked at other things and found quite the laundry list. Probably going to be close to $1500 to knock it all off so I think I'm just going to sell it instead.

2004 Outback 5spd with 220k, any thoughts on how much it's worth?

I really don't want to deal with private party.

I don't imagine Carmax will touch it though. Already asked the repair shop, and they said they would only take it as a trade if I bought something off their lot.

Nothing. We don't really need two cars. I drive it twice a week, once to the airport (which is senselessly expensive between parking + mileage, even though I am not paying for it) and once to the office on Fridays, which Eric now works at as well. Will end up ahead just ubering when I need to - between parking for the apartment building (especially if we move), gas, and parking at the office it will be cheaper.

I rented this in Hawaii:

I really, really liked it.  However, Maui is just about the worst place to own a car like that.  It's Miata town for sure.  All that power, and a cop everywhere you look.  I barely got to open it up, and afterwards I was looking over my shoulder for miles.  The Corvette just isn't happy doing 40 or 50, it wants to go faster.

Modern performance cars in a nut shell. Even the track I smashed the G on was too small for something like a Corvette.

Sux. I hit 150 in the Hertz model that I rented in Vegas. Hawaii is scaled for scooters and Samurais.

Looks like north Wailea/south Kihei? Yeah, Hawaiians drive slow and the speed limits & enforcement levels really show that.

I bet that car would be awesome in Nevada.
