This will upset the 'vette-owning contingent of the diehard petrolhead geezers in the car club here.

It's a rather pointless offering

Right, because nobody has ever produced a successful AWD sportscar/supercar.

I guess that's probably the killer hack. Most 2WD cars these days have moderate to major traction problems - even yer mom's Accord or (V6) Camry, let alone performance cars. Where I live roads are wet for 7+ months of the year.

The C8 was designed with this in mind. There's probably much more to come with the Zora. Z06 engine + higher powered electric motor up front?

Also consider how much better the car will be at getting off the line.

Pointless, lol - as if supercars have a point to begin with..

Yeah this is just basically the test bed for the 160hp hybrid system for the upcoming Zora.  If it's the z06 engine plus this 160 hp motor then it's a 820hp Vette.  If it's a turboed version of the z06 motor plus this we might be looking at a 1000hp Vette.

The current C8 platform doesn't have trouble putting down 660hp, the new z06 is just about as quick to 60 mph as this, but at 800+ hp or 1000hp this makes sense.

I remember back in the mid-aughts there was a guy at work who wanted to buy a Mazda Tribute. He told me he was going to get the one with the 3.0L V6. I said he might wanna think about the AWD for the V6 otherwise the 2WD might be a bit lively. He got a sweet deal on the 2WD and um it was definitely very squirrely if did anything more than brush the throttle when moving off.

Yup! They've said from the get go that the Zora would be 1000hp and AWD.........

Right, because nobody has ever produced a successful AWD sportscar/supercar.

It basically has zero straight line performance while being saddled with a massive weight gain... Not sure how many people are hell bent on driving their convertible vette in the snow or worried about fuel mileage.

It's a mid engine RWD chassis.  Adding power to the front wheels isn't a huge straight line advantage when 90%+ of the weight is being transferred to the rear.  You can hear in the C&D video the front wheels start spinning - they aren't loaded enough for added traction to make up for the the weight disadvantage.

Looking/sounding/performing real good (i.e., has the Z06 wide body). A few more details - +300 lbs over the Z06 so about 3,900 lbs. Only a 1.9 kWHr battery, so at 160 hp = 36 seconds of run time (but using the 80/20 rule, more like 22 seconds of runtime) at full boil.
