I can think of a few cars I wish I still owned.
1966 Dodge Charger, should need no explaination.
83 or 4 Renault Alliance, got nothing for tradein, it ran well and was in great condition. Should have driven it until it died.
1991 Mustang Convertible, 4 banger autobox, but it was a fun in the sun car that looked nice and was cheap to operate.
1997 Escort Wagon, Almost as much cargo space as the Escape I owned later, in a smaller, more fuel efficient package. Regularly got high 20's in the city and mid 30's on the highway. I should have had the door dings ironed out, slapped some midrange wheels and tires on it and tweaked the engine a bit.
My dad is sorry he sold his 1969 AMX 343, but me, personally, I've only owned one car, and it's still ticking, albeit with a little more rust and wear than when I bought it.
My V8 RX7, the Daytona Spyder replica, the '62 Impala SS, and my last 911. Out of all the cars I've owned, those are the ones I regret selling.
My 1996 Mustang GT that was modified to 400 hp.
If I had to chose, it'd be this: the '72 Dodge Demon I bought after just getting out of school. Mine was red with black accents. It was an amateur restoration, but still pretty nice. Rather than the 340 it had a warmed over 360. I should scan some pictures some time:

I'd have loved my father's 1980 VC Commodore SL/E with the sweet little 253 V8, and I think my mother's mid '60s Mini would have been a riot.
My '85 MR2 and my '85 Subaru XT both ran like tanks and never gave me any serious problems!
My mom had a yellow Barracuda back in the 70's. I would have LOVED to have had it later in life...except the garage they were storing it and her brother's Cougar in burned down. :(

My dad had one in Big Bad Orange with a 401 (must've been a bored out 390 or something). Awesome car, he sold it a few years ago too. Just too hard to find parts for it anymore.
I wish I kept my old 94 Legacy. Would have been a wonderful snow beater.
My father's '67 Mustang and '67 T-bird.
I don't regret selling the 4Runner because it was dead, but I'm sorry it died.

That said, the Caddy is admittedly easier to live with day to day, and more useful. But the s2k was perfect for when my daily commute was 20 miles of PCH :mrcool:
Vinsanity,
Did anyone steal your seats?
The one I regret the most was my '67 Sunbeam Tiger Mark II with a 289 K-code engine.
Of course my '51 Mercury as well, but that was when I was a kid and didn't know better.

The Rex was great. It was a sad day when it was sold. I remember those posts on RBP.. and about how it broke down when driven across country by the new owner (forgot who it was). do you remember what happened afterwards?
Personally, I regret selling the Rx8.. I miss having a Rotary engine car even with all the trouble. Maybe I'll get one if they ever bring out a new Rotary car.

lol, thankfuly, no. But that would've given me an excuse to use the insurance money to replace them with a pair of red seats. Even then, my worst fear every time I have to park the car in a sketchy area is to find my convertible top hacked open revealing an empty interior missing of seats

1987 B2000 pickup truck. They don't make small trucks anymore (that I like) and I could use one now for work and around the house. I don't need a truck as big as the new Tacoma or with a big V6.
1993 MX-3 GS. I loved the little V6 in that thing and it was a fun car for something that's FWD. I normally hate FWD cars. And you don't see many these days. When I sold it to Car Max the guy who tested the cars before buying them told the people in the office "this is the cleanest used car he's ever seen in his life and if they wouldn't buy it he would." I could kind of use a car that size now for trips and vacations and stuff. If it wasn't for the color I'd probably still have it.
My bright red Citroen 2CV. It was fun - 32 hp - pedal to the metal most of the time just to keep up with traffic, & it ran into an aerodynamic brick wall at exactly 72 mph; it would not go any faster unless you were either going downhill, had a following wind, or driving off the edge of a cliff.

Yeah, Ken came over and test drove it around Seattle. He drove off and somewhere in the mountains of Colorado, was heavy footing it way up in altitude and blew out the power valve in the Holley carb (something about the lower air pressure up there. Typical of carbed cars that need to be tuned specifically for the altitude they will be used at). I went and picked him and the car up in Colorado and delivered him and the car to his house in Chicago. Instead of fixing the carb and driving it around, he changed the carb out for a smaller one, and had the engine rebuilt by a local engine rebuilder. When it didn't run like it had for me (and like it ran when he test drove it), he blamed ME. Maybe the negine was rebuilt poorly, I don't know. I do know that the carb was specially built by a friend of mine specifically for high G force loading and high rpm flow (the "correct" sized carb I had on it originally didn't flow above 5000 rpm and made teh car slow, so maybe that happened to him).
Anyhow, he took it with him to the east coast, and another rbp'er took a ride in it and commented on how hard and fast it cornered and ran. He finally sold it to some kid in Florida that got a few tickets in it, and was forced to sell it again. A guy in Louisiana bought it and added it to his collection. After that I lost track of it. I have been trying to get people to keep an eye out for it, just in case the opportunity to buy it back comes up.

My EVO IX, amazing car.
Also i miss my old MX-6 alittle, simply because i bought it for a thousand dollars because it had a transmision pop out issue. Turned out there was no fluid in it because the drain plug was gone, i drove it around for a few days before i put it up in the air and noticed this. Bought a plug, filled it up and it had no issues. Was a nice car, loaded with leather V6 5 speed a really nice deep titanium color with black interior. One of if not the best handling FWD cars i've had the plesure of owning/driving.

I should have got my Aunt's when she sold hers. Not a scratch on the car and it was like new. Only reason I didn't do it was because it was a auto.

My old 944 would be another one, it was a non turbo but it still moved pretty good and handled great.
First Maxima... I would probably still have it. I crashed it, and thought it was totalled... really I just didn't know anything about cars then. I could have fixed it and kept it going w/a little patience & money. It was such a great car at the time, black on black leather, 5 spd, sunroof... it was great. And it would let me have a really impractical car to go along with it since I would already have a beater sedan. Super cheap to keep going too, with all the Cavaliers in the junkyards.
Didn't really care for driving it, but it would have been nice to have an already paid for beater car that was reliable, and that I couldn't give a shit if it got another door ding or something similar

There is a great place in Charlotte (you're there right?), that caters to VW restoration and parts. I've dealt with them for parts on my '78 camper. It is called Vintage Volkswagen Specialists. Nice people and their prices are fair. If they follow their usual practice, they will shut down for six or eight weeks in the summer to "go have fun". The guy I dealt not only restores VW's, but is also a geology professor at UNC-Charlotte.

I am sorry, we gave away the Polo. It ran well, but was pretty done anyways. In its last months the cental console broke off, the dampers were done and the timing belt was 17 years old. But now that I live downtown without a garage it would be more practical than the Golf. It's way smaller, I wouldn't get pissed off that it only gets dirty and his hardly driven and most important: without beeing lowered and having spoilers it would be easier to climb sidewalks to park.
Right now I use the Golf, but when I am a bit more accomodated downtown I'll park it at my parent's so my mother can use it, and I'll take it when I need it.
I am still not sure, if I'll buy a new beater. I actually don't need a car, then again it's a great feeling to have one right in front of the appartment.
