Title: New USPS trucks

Looks-wise it's not fantastic, but it looks really well engineered to the actual needs of postal workers. Imagine the sightlines out of that thing. Zero hood to work around.

The optional electric drivetrain is another big win IMO, postal trucks are the textbook perfect use case for EV drivetrains. I bet the fuel savings will be enormous on suburban zip codes close to the post office.

Work horses are not always the most elegant of the equines.

The EV will be quiet, and I assume the low emissions ICE will be quiet as well (all new 4 cylinder eco-boxes are quiet). How will we know the mail is coming? :hmm:

It's like they grafted a Freightliner windshield on a Transit Connect. But the current Grummans aren't lookers either, so this is exciting.

Imagine how big of a hat you could wear in that! Make the glass bulletproof and they can sell these to the Vatican

Long term, I see windshield replacement costs being a possible cost issue.

Transparent aluminum. All you need is a Mac Plus with a mouse.

Considering that they're on the wrong side of the road most of the time, they would need all the visibility that they can get.

Seems like they really really pay attention to what the mail deliverers ask for. Doesn't look much goofier than when they switched from Jeeps to the S10-platform current ones.

I get a kick out of our mailman... Just drives from box to box at WOT then slams on the brakes.  Makes me jealous

Aren't diesels the most efficient at WOT?

That's...not production ready at all.  It'll look quite a bit different come production time.

They need a much larger grill obviously for a modern design perspective and perhaps integrate more of a smile into the grill design for public relations

Is this the same Oshkosh that makes kids' clothes?

No, this is the Oshkosh that builds military vehicles like MRAPs and whatever the Humvee replacement is called.

I chose to believe that they are different branches of the same company

Sadly, they aren't.  Would be great if Oshkosh Defense bought Oshkosh B'gosh.  They could do a tactical line of kevlar, camo patterned overalls.

So unfortunate to have a vehicle named after a comic onomatopoeia for flatulence.

Heat gain in that glasshouse is going to be huge - they'd need some industrial strength air conditioning.
