The 2020 Escape is better than the previous generation. The hood is longer, meaning it's easier to service.
The last gen vehicles were incredibly difficult to service. Meaning repair costs are higher.
They were 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag.
Nobody gives a crap till they get that $2K repair estimate.

Didn't care for the gen II Escape (2013-2019) though the seem pretty popular.  Gen III (2020-2021) are an improvement style wise.  My experience with gen I is that they are bullet proof.

Concerning the 2020 model, I'd be inclined to go with the 2.0 litre engine.

Looks like Ford has a lot of 2020 inventory in general to sell. Almost 50% remains. Yikes.
