I love reading about weird shit like this.
the CEO of Geely back in the 1990s wanted China to have a valid Mercedes competitor.
However, there wasn't much engineering prowess, etc to do so. So he rebodied a Hongqi sedan in the style of a W210! These Honqi sedans were Audi 100/5000's made under license powered by the same 2.2L 4cyl from the Aries K (Or a Nissan VG20 or some VW motor).

I love watching hilarious Youtube videos of these early Chinese cars undergoing crash testing.
The W210 is so sexy. He really ruined it with "his design." :mask:

It's not even a design. It's a W210 styling draped over an Audi 100 chassis

Yep. Not that this scares me, as long he doesn't design something and insist they use it.

Yep. Pretty freaky that it uses a "Mercedes W210" body on an Audi 100 chassis with a Chinese engine!

* American engine. It's either a Chrysler or Nissan engine in there.

Ah, I read the article last night and I seemed to remember it had a "Honqqi" engine...

Geelys involvement with Volvo has actually been great.
