I've considered the Land Rover Discovery Sport, but the base price up here is about 50% more than the other 3.

Lease rates can vary pretty wildly from sticker prices, for what it's worth.

Yeah, Land Rover was pushing their leases on the Discovery Sport pretty hard over here recently.

I'll check it out then.

That F-Pace is a beast. You guys are retired right? Don't do a ton of driving? Reliability is not as big of a deal then IMO.

Q5 is going to get replaced any day now which will make current gen examples go for cheap. MKC is a more direct competitor to these... also worth a look IMO. Very plush.

Can't really go wrong here.... comes down to preference.

Not exactly retired, as my wife is still active in her profession and I help her...and we do travel quite a bit within the region and are planning some extensive road trips.

I was looking at the MKC as well but, being based on the Escape vs. the MKX being based on the Edge, the MKX seems a bit more substantial; plus, I like the 3.7 V6.

If I get one, I'll just refer to it as a Jaguar.
You mean you'll refer to it as the Jaaaaaag, right?

F-Pace vs Q5 vs MKC?

Unless you have a burning desire to own a $40,000 Ford Escape, you can go ahead and scratch the MK-Whatever off your list.

LOL at all the outdated misconceptions concerning Jaguar reliability I'm reading here.  Since this isn't 1978, I'd not let the Jag-paranoia worry you at all.  In fact, the F-Pace is the one I'd go for, despite the stupid name.  Not that there's anything wrong with the Audi Q5.  Sure, it's a handsome beast but it's been around a while now and getting just a bit too common.

The Jag is newer, more exclusive and has a great warranty.  Plus, there's the panache of owning a Jaaaaag!

Go on, you know you want to!  :ohyeah:

Wow, I didn't even know Jaguar sold an SUV. Had too look up this "F-Pace"; how very gauche.

If you are leasing, then residuals will matter all the more.  If the Lincoln has shitty resale like it does here, the lease rates will be a lot higher than the other two.

They all have terrible resale value. Leases they're offering here (36-month):

- ~$550/mo. for the Lincoln Scratch that, I was looking at the MKC. MKX would also be about $700/mo.
- ~$700/mo. for the Audi
- Jag doesn't even publish lease rates for the F-Pace yet, but if the deals they've got going on for the XF are any indication he'd be looking at around $700 too. (As a base of comparison they've got a 'deal' for leasing an XF Premium AWD for $599/mo. for 39 months + a $5,699 down payment; the same deal in the US is $489/mo. for 36 months with a $,4,995 down payment.)

I've be looking at the Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE and decided to toss it in the mix.  Not quite as desirable as the F-Pace, but they are offering some pretty good lease deals on it up here.  Going to start test driving soon.

Pretty much ruled out the MKX...my wife just doesn't care much for it.

They're nice.  I've always liked the XC90.  However, I'm being steered towards a Red Jaguar F-Pace.

The XC60 T6 will move pretty well, and you can probably get a decent deal on one.

For mostly irrational reasons, as with everything in Lincoln's lineup, the MKXZM&TW needs to be cast into the fires of Hell.

In all seriousness though, the Jag is getting great reviews.  My XJ hasn't missed a beat yet, though I've heard the newer ones have some annoying issues with their infotainment system.

Lincoln offers a custom/bespoke program for the MKX I believe if you wanna be fancy.

Does it include replacing all of the interior bits and getting someone besides the gentlemen who assemble normal Lincoln interiors to do the fit and finish work?

Went t0 the Jag/Range Rover dealer yesterday.  They had just delivered their first F-Pace prior to our arriving so we didn't get a chance to see it.

They seem to be selling like hotcakes so no deals to be made.  Their getting a demo on the 14th of this month and we'll have a look at it then.  Pretty much made up our minds on it.  The Discovery Sport and Evoque look pretty good, but...

They had a new 2015 XJL for a big discount...still too much, but we were tempted.  Second sober thoughts are always recommended in these situations.

I did.  For that matter, I'd be quite content with a Discovery Sport HSE, but my wife...

As well, I've not yet seen an F-Pace in the metal.  I expect when we do, there will be little room for discussion.  She's pretty much made up her mind on an Italian Racing Red F-Pace.  I wouldn't object to that.

edit; The 340hp supercharged 3.0 litre gasoline engine available for the F-Pace also has me leaning in that direction.

The only holdup is delivery.  Dealers up here have limited quotas and they seem to have sold at least half of their quotas sight unseen.  Earliest delivery is November; if you can believe what a car salesman says.

Cool, cool.  I'm personally 35% certain that a Discovery Sport will be my next car (which is a relatively high level of certainty for me.  I was nearly 100% certain that I wouldn't even consider a Z4 before I bought one...), so I'd love to hear your impressions of it.

Been doing some research on the Discovery Sport.  Since I'd mainly fallen for it on looks and the romance of an actually capable Land Rover, I thought it smart to see if it's actually good.

Seems like it is.  Capable offroad, good inside, great ride, but with a couple of drawbacks.  The 2.0L I4t engine and ZF 9AT leave something to be desired, apparently.  The engine is laggy and the transmission is clumsy.  Apparently Jaguar Land Rover's got a new I4 line in the pipeline with the Ingenium moniker, so that should be a welcome change when it comes around (evo's already reviewed the Ingenium diesel, quite favorably).  Infotainment (ugh, what a word to have to use) system is slow and a bit clunky.  Other than that, nothing else has put me off the car.  Apparently the Haldex AWD system that's in there now will either be replaced by a torque-vectoring system (or be sold alongside, the articles I've read are ambiguous on that), but the reviewer couldn't seem to tell a difference in performance in snow and ice, so that's a nonissue.

So we decided on the Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE.

Just signed the purchase last night and should pick it up this Friday.

Firenze Red exterior and Ebony/Ebony/Cirrus interior.

Congrats. That has a lovely interior and drives very well. One of my partners has an Evoque which is very similar.
