The Official CarSPIN Bad Parking Hall of Shame.

We've all seen it.  Cars dumped in inappropriate places by careless owners.  Cars hogging two or more parking spaces.  Cars parked so badly you sometimes wonder if they have been abaondoned by thieves.  Here is your chance to highlight these adventures in bad parking.  Based on an idea shamelessly ripped-off from a couple of other mototing sites, I present the Official CarSPIN Bad Parking Hall of Shame!  Feel free to contribute any instances of bad parking you happen to witness.

Let's kick things off with this example of seriously bad parking.  Obviously, the driver of this Mercedes E Class thinks he's too important to park up with the peasants inside the parking garage.  Because he drives a Mercedes and is therefore "Special", he feels entitled to park OUTSIDE the garage, on the sidewalk!  And partially block the exit in the process!

Gah! At my old company we would share fresh pictures of parking FAIL taken from the campus parking lots and garages. I could've passed them along here.

If it were a perfect world, every car made today would be under 180" long and drivers would be able to park them with ease.

I love PlastiCar's size for that reason. Subie Doobie was the same story.

Nice!

In this picture, you can notice that it's standard procedure to park on the grass. This CLK550 is too good to park on the grass and stuck to the pavement.

Mustangfan2003

Didn't have a camera on me but I noticed an Escape today parked on the side of the street pretty far away from the curb.

Rupert

I used to be an amazing parker, but recently my parking has become just mediocre. The hell is that?

My parking has always been mediocre. I don't know why. I drive my car through narrow openings (~2" clearance on either side) at speeds much greater than I should, thread a god damned needle, but do you think I can parallel park worth a damn?

Rupert

I can still parallel park fine, but recently my perpendicular parking has been less than stellar. Maybe it's because I drive too many vehicles... (Explorer, MG, 944, Grand Cherokee, Tahoe, Dodge 2500 crew cab, Chevy 2500 crew cab...). I'll blame it on that.

LOLS I used to parallel the minivans in spaces people wouldn't put a Focus.   It's been a while though...

In HS I used to piss people off cuz they'd park on one side of the spot to keep people from parking next to them (not leave enough room) but my 78 Subie was so skinny I'd park there anyway...

I feel this photo Teuton posted in the Spotted Today thread deserves to featured as an example of bad parking.  Yes I know it's a very expensive Lamborghini but it's parked in a nearly empty car park.  Do you really need to hog FOUR parking spaces?  Nice car but a parking fail.  It deserves to be here.

It's better to take four spaces in an empty lot than a full one, eh?

Even in an empty parking lot, using four spaces is just being a dickhead.

Maybe, but if I had spent $TwiceTexas on a car, I don't think I would mind being a dickhead when I parked.

this is the problem I'd have driving around in a car that costs $TwiceTexas. sure, it's a marvelous piece of engineering, but if I'm too paranoid to take it out on public roads, then what's the use in buying something like that if I can't enjoy it?

In some places parking like that is about like putting a sign on the car that reads "KEY ME"

Looks like a kit car from that angle.

I have a car with authentic history and heritage that goes to the grocery store, the strip mall, home depot, etc.  It is never, absolutely never, parked in more than one spot.  Like I posted earlier, that kind of parking is just asking to have the car keyed.   Park the car properly and people walk by and think or remark, "Nice Car".  Park like a dick head and some people get irritated and think they need to make a statement in your paint.

two of my coworkers know the people who own the pickup truck. They're quite a douchey couple, and my coworkers cringe every time they show up. One has even gone through the trouble of dropping by my office upstairs just to avoid them.

Hey, that's a great idea!

How 'bout we print some fake parking tickets saying:  Congratulations! Your incompetent parking skills have earned you a place in the Official CarSPIN Bad Parking Hall of Shame for all the world to see at www.carspin.net ?  Maybe we can make some similar tickets for the cars featured in the Rice Thread?

What say all of you?  Good idea or not?
