2020 VW Golf MK8 Official Sketches Optimistically Tease What We've Already Seen

Even though there's not much left that we haven't already seen in real life photors, Volkswagen's promotional machine has kicked into high gear with the release of official sketches of the new-generation Golf.

Scheduled to be unveiled in two weeks from today, on October 24, before launching in December, the 2020 Golf promises to be a trendsetter in terms of technology and connectivity features.

The interior has been completely overhauled, with new dashboard design accented by aluminum and chrome trim and featuring a large infotainment screen that merges with the digital instrument cluster and another small display on the left side of the gauges.

Controlling the air conditioning system requires operating the touch-sensitive buttons located below the center touchscreen. Further down, Volkswagen has added sone physical buttons, a cubby holder and the gear selector, along with more buttons and another storage space, outlined by an ambient light strip. More ambient lights appear to have been integrated into the doors and dashboard.

The new three-spoke steering wheel, with aluminum trim, houses a bunch of buttons on both sides, used to access the cruise control, digital gauges, change the song or radio station, turn the volume up or down, and interact with the voice commands.

On the outside, the 2020 Golf adopts an evolutionary styling, which in reality, is way less aggressive and dynamic than the sketches suggest. VW has admitted that "it is instantly recognizable as a Golf from all sides", with similar shaped panels but more eye-catching changes at both ends.

Powering Wolfsburg's Ford Focus, Opel/Vauxhall Astra, Renault Megane, Peugeot 3008, Hyundai i30 and Mazda3 challenger will be an assortment of gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid that likely uses the same powertrain as the Passat GTE. Next year, the lineup will be completed by the Golf GTI and Golf R hot hatchbacks.

I do not know why they release that 2 weeks before the release, they will just set expectations to high. It is not going to be that sleek.
