BMW Made A REAL X7 Pickup – And It Has Room For A Bike, Plus Five Adults

Your eyes are not deceiving you and this is definitely not a rendering. Yes, the most luxurious member of BMW's crossover family, the X7, has been turned into a pickup truck by none other than the Bavarian automaker itself!

Mind you, it's only for show purposes, as it has been created for the company's Motorrad Days, where it will be presented alongside many motorcycles.

Based on a prototype, the study has BMW's vocational trainees behind it, who collaborated with the Munich plant's Concept Vehicle Construction and Model Technology divisions. It took them 10 months to complete it, which means that work began one month before the X7 was first shown to the world last October.

The team behind the ambitious project has made it 10 cm (4 in) longer compared to the SUV, and the length of the bed varies from 1.4 to 2.0 meters (55-79 in), closed and open, respectively. Furthermore, they have used CFRP on certain components, such as the roof, rear doors and rear lid, which has shaved 200 kg (441 lbs) from the weight of the X7.

Retaining its luxury ambience, the interior has seating for five, which will be put to good use, as the trainees plan to take it out for a spin after its premiere, or even go for a trip to the mountains in it.

In order to highlight its practicality, BMW has loaded it up with an F 850 GS bike, whose wheels touch the handcrafted teakwood the bed is fitted with, while the Tanzanite Blue metallic color, inspired by yachting sports and signed by BMW Individual, completes the look.

Doesn't look like the wheels are touching the bed to me...

So the bike they created it for does not even fit into the bed?

It's not a pickup, it's a ute .

But it says "real" in all-caps! They must know what they're talking about!

It's a production bike. They didn't create it for this vehicle.

Besides, using the tailgate to extend the bed for bikes is pretty common.

Nice. I wouldn't load a bunch of broken cinder block in it  ;)   but nice.

With "it" I meant the pickup.

It's impossible to argue with Raza. He wins. Period. End of discussion.
