Title: Rallyx!
Post by: Eye of the Tiger on February 08, 2009, 07:24:01 PM
I didn't take any pics, but other people did. None of my run group yet. I'll post more as they come in...

I thought this was, by far, the COOLEST car there. A Legacy pickup! Complete with a 2.5L and a pirate flag in the bed!

This A4 was ub3r fast, or at least it looked like it was
(http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u112/diddydt/RallyX%20at%20NED%20Feb09/RallyXNED02-09198.jpg)

The driver(s) of this Audi 4000 never seemed to lift off the throttle, they just kept drifting and sending snow flying in all directions.

And of course there were about three hundred Imprezas of various trims...

and a Lancer

Oh, and the truck, which also pulled out everyone when they got stuck

Fun times! I used to love driving for fun on a frozen lake back home in my '84 Omni GLH.

BeaveRun stopped doing them, and I really don't want to go to WVa. to have some fun.

Ok, maybe you have an excuse. But you should go to ONE, even if it's far away.

My approximately 90 WHP would rock at something like that.

I need to find one at some point.  I'd rather go to a muddy pit, though.  The car would look awesome covered in mud.

Excellent! I thought your Volvo was cobalt blue for some odd reason. It looks great, and really fast.

Slightly humorous note: Two different people came up to me and complimented my turbo diesel.
Me: "It's not a diesel, it just has a lot of miles on it."

You need to get a bumper sticker made that says "Moose Killer" on it.

ALL B230F/FT's make the clatter.  I get, "Is that a diesel?" quite often.

I'm going to get the head gasket fixed.  I can do it in my garage.  Also, do you want a turn signal for the drivers side?  I've got one you can have for $15.

There some ice racing up in Georgetown, weather permitting, at least a couple of times each winter.  I need to sneak up there sometime when my wife isn't looking.  (She hates the idea of racing on a frozen lake, thinks I'll fall through or something).

Got the results:

Run 1: 107.562 - took it slow to learn the course, and it was really icy early in the morning
Run 2: 145.232  - hit ice and understeered into the deep snow, two course workers quickly pushed me out
Run 3: 170.312 - to liberal with the throttle, spun out, and got stuck in the deep snow, a bunch of course workers pushed me out
Run 4: 78.379  - the track was resurfaced, and the ice melted, so I got a nice, clean run!
Run 5: DNF  - understeered into the deep snow, ten people piling into the back of the wagon did not give enough traction, had to get towed out by the truck, and the truck pulled me off course and made me DNF!
Run 6: 83.686 - I didn't push it, because I didn't want to get stuck again
Final result: DNF

It appears my 170 second lap was the slowest of the day, and the fastest lap of the day was 53.779 set by that silver A4 I posted a pic of.

I didn't hit any cones, though!

This was actually an unusual event, because the course did not stay the same throughout the day. They kept changing it! Made it quite interesting.

Sorry guys, but the grille and front lights from a 760 slant nose are not interchangeable with a 940 flat nose and vice-versa.  CJ, if you want an eggcrate grille to fit your 940, you'll need the grille from a 1990 740 Turbo.  (1991-92 740 Turbos had a blacked-out vertical bar grille).  1989 and earlier 740 grilles will NOT fit.

Here's the best place to get those front turn signal lenses: www.lampsandlenses.com

I have the fogs setup...it's just not currently ON the car.  They're in a box in my garage waiting for me to get a bumper and passenger side turn signal.
