OMG, so gorgeous (that color).

This is the "Baby AMG" as I understand there will be either an A43 AMG or A53 AMG above it.

Mercedes-AMG A35 Goes Official with All-Wheel-Drive and 301-Horsepower

The Mercedes-AMG lineup is growing as the automaker has officially unveiled the entry-level A35 4MATIC.
Starting under the hood, the hatchback has a new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 301 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and a performance-oriented all-wheel drive system which enables the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Being a proper AMG model means the performance upgrades continue elsewhere. To increase torsional stiffness, the A35 has been equipped with additional braces and an aluminum plate which resides under the engine.

Elsewhere, engineers installed an AMG Ride Control suspension which uses lightweight aluminum components, an AMG-specific front steering knuckle and a handful of goodies lifted from the A45. Customers will also have the option of ordering an Adaptive Damping System with three different modes.

Since the model can get to high speeds relatively quickly, the car has been equipped with a high-performance braking system which features four-piston fixed calipers and 13.7 inch (350mm) brake discs up front and single piston rear calipers with 13-inch (330mm) discs out back. The calipers are painted silver and each features black AMG lettering.

Other performance minded changes include a sports steering system and AMG exhaust and an assortment of special settings including a new "Slippery" model for the AMG Dynamic Select System.

A previewed by leaked images, the A35 has a lot in common with the A-Class' AMG Line package. However, the high-performance model has a unique grille, flics and a front splitter. The car has also been equipped with a unique rear bumper, a large spoiler and unique exhaust tips. Other special touches include a new diffuser and 18-inch light-alloy wheels.

Moving into the cabin, drivers will find a flat-bottomed steering wheel, microfiber accents and red contrast stitching. As expect, there will an assortment of customizations for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system including three AMG displays for the gauges.

The Mercedes-AMG A35 4MATIC will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on October 2nd and sales will begin later that month.

I quite like the color.  Would like to see it without the wing, though.  Might like it even more.

I like yellow on some cars, but not quite that shade.  Just seems a bit too light.

Hehe, nice one! I'm gonna be happy with the A250.

0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds (I'm betting it's quicker, 5.9/6.0 seconds) compared to the 4.7 seconds of the A35 AMG? In my eyes not a really "big difference"...

And both are limited to 250 km/h!

In the A-Class range? There's the standard A-Class with some "Progressive" body kits that don't change much visually, then there's the AMG Line and now there's the first Baby AMG of the range: the A35.

2019 Mercedes-AMG A35 Wants To Hunt Audi S3s And Golf Rs

The A35 hot hatch represents the entry-point to Mercedes-AMG's family of potent vehicles.

It's also the most powerful derivative of the new A-Class lineup, at least until the A45 arrives with some 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW) more, a further upgraded chassis and a more aggressive body kit.

Brought to the 2018 Paris Auto Show for its world premiere, the Mercedes-AMG A35 is a proper rival to the likes of the Audi S3 Sportback and Volkswagen Golf R. Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 306 PS (301 hp / 225 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.

A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system are standard fit, giving the new A35 a 0-100km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds, while top speed is electronically capped at 250 km/h (155 mph).

The chassis has been upgraded with additional braces and an aluminum plate to increase torsional stiffness up front while AMG has also installed their own steering knuckle, among other goodies. The AMG Ride Control suspension is standard, with adaptive dampers to be offered as an option.

The signature Panamericana grille is absent from the new Mercedes AMG A35, whose front end is dominated by a regular grille that features two vertical bars. That's because the full treatment is reserved for the more aggressive A45, as is the norm within the AMG ranks.

Mercedes-AMG will start taking orders for the A35 later this month, after the auto show in France's capital.

Mercedes is pulling a Ford Focus RS.

It's Official: New Mercedes-AMG A45 Getting Drift Mode, 8sp Dual Clutch Transmission

Mercedes-AMG are stepping up their game with the all-new A45 that's currently in the development phase.

The super hot hatch will welcome a few major upgrades compared to the outgoing model, including a Drift mode, which was confirmed to journalists present at the 2018 Paris Auto Show by the AMG boss, Tobias Moers, reports CarAdvice.

"Okay, you can go sideways with it", said the Affalterbach-based performance brand's chief when asked about the then rumored Drift mode. The technology is expected to be controlled by a computer, just like in the larger E63, which should make drifting easy to anyone sitting behind the wheel.

Moers also revealed another novelty for the upcoming Mercedes-AMG A45: the addition of a dual-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission, unlike the current iteration and its seven-speed auto. "Yes, it's a dual-clutch eight-speed. The A35 is a seven-speed, the 45 will have an eight-speed."

The 4Matic permanent all-wheel drive will remain standard, and together with the tuned chassis, should make the A45 a peach around corners. "The chassis compared to today is unbelievable. We have various suspension in the car, and it's an improvement in every perspective. There's more comfort, more rigidity in every way, so we put a lot of effort into the body in white. There's lots of reinforcement and it fits perfectly", Tobias Moers added.

Power wise, the car will remain one of the kings of the segment, with more than 400 hp produced by a new turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. In a previous statement, the AMG boss said that every component of the powertrain is new and perfectly tuned, admitting that he's "not a fan of over-powered cars".

One final upgrade that will put more distance between the A45 and the regular models, in addition to the more aerodynamic exterior and extra work inside, will be the MBUX infotainment system. The feature will benefit from "a dedicated super sport kind of screen", providing drivers with all the required performance information.

The '45' moniker will make its way to the Sedan version of the new A-Class, too, which is the one coming to the United States. If recent reports turn out to be correct, then a more track-focused version of both cars, presumably named the Mercedes-AMG A45S or A50, will sit at the top of the range.

America will get this.

2019 Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan Prototype Leaves Little To The Imagination

Last time we saw a Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan prototype was back in June, and that car was heavily camouflaged bumper to bumper. This one however, not as much, leaving very little to the imagination.

Of course, the fact that we already know what the 5-door A35 looks like definitely helps, as Mercedes-AMG unveiled it just last month, along with a full specs sheet, focused around its turbocharged 2.0-liter engine.

The fact that this A35 Sedan prototype still has a few bits and pieces covered up means very little. We know to expect a unique grille, more aggressive bumpers, a boot lid spoiler, 18-inch wheels, stiffer suspension and bigger brakes. In fact, we saw a pretty accurate rendering just a few weeks back, although it was missing the spoiler and the chunkier rear diffuser.

As for the interior, it will come with a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, microfiber accents and contrast stitching, plus an assortment of AMG-specific settings, options and badges.

Underneath the hood of the 5-door A35 lies a turbocharged 2.0-liter 306 PS (301 HP) engine, which also produces 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The four-door model will utilize the exact same engine, as well as the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and performance-oriented AWD system.

We also anticipate a similar 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time, where the hatchback is rated at 4.7 seconds.

As for tech, the new model will feature Mercedes' latest MBUX infotainment system, plus a full suite of driver-assistance and safety systems, such as GPS-enabled cruise control, emergency braking and lane-change assist.

Unlike the A35 hatchback, the sedan model will also be sold in the United States, alongside the more powerful A45 variant. We expect Mercedes-AMG to launch the A35 Sedan early next year.

€47,529? I could have bought one!

But I doubt I would have gotten the great discount rates I got on the A250 AMG Line.

Get Your Mercedes-AMG A35 From €47,529 In Germany

Last month, Mercedes-AMG presented the A35 hot hatch, and now the car is available to order in several European markets, including Germany.

The cheapest AMG model has an MSRP of €47,528.60 ($54,183) in its home market and benefits from the specific AMG body kit on the outside and the MBUX infotainment system inside.

Power comes from a 2.0-liter four-banger making 306 PS (301 hp / 225 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. The unit works together with a seven-speed DCT and standard all-wheel drive, rocketing the A35 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.7 seconds and up to a top speed electronically limited at 250 km/h (155 mph).

The AMG Aerodynamics Package, which was developed in the wind tunnel and improves handling at high speeds, is available as an option, along with the AMG Night Package, 19-inch wheels and others.

As usual, Mercedes-AMG is celebrating the launch of the new model with the Edition 1 version. It will remain on sale for the next 18 months and is more lavishly equipped compared to the regular A35, as it gets the Aerodynamics and Night packages, as well as 19-inch alloys, as standard.

Inside, it gets black, grey Artico or Dinamica upholstery with blue accents and medium-grey contrast stitching, heated performance seats, sports steering wheel, ambient lighting, aluminum trim elements and an 'Edition' badge on the steering wheel.

The Mercedes-AMG A35 Edition 1 uses the same engine as the regular A35 and has identical performance, but due to the added extras, as well as being a limited production run, it starts from €55,364.75 ($63,116).

Deliveries of both models will start in December.

First Drive of the A35 AMG 4Matic.

New Mercedes-AMG A35 tested

NEW entry-level performance model from AMG isn't as focused as the old A45, but that is a good thing.

The A35 is designed to go where no other Mercedes-AMG has been before. When the all-wheel drive hot hatch reaches Australia it will be more affordable than anything the brand has ever built.
Exactly what it will cost isn't yet known. Scheduled to begin rolling into showrooms across Europe from January, the A35 won't go on sale in Australia until very late next year. Its price here will be finalised close to the local launch date.

Mercedes-AMG describes the A35, based on the new A-Class hatchback, as its "new entry-level model". In countries where pricing has been announced, Germany and the UK among them, it's significantly cheaper than the outgoing A45.

That car, introduced in 2013, was close to $80,000 here at the end of its production life. All this points to a price in Australia no higher than $70,000 for the A35, maybe less.

Though less costly, the A35 is an authentic Mercedes-AMG. This is a car that's clearly been given a lot of engineer love. Fiercely fast in a straight line, it steers, brakes and corners with real finesse.

Its engine is based on the turbo 2.0-litre four in the just-launched A250 but extensive AMG upgrades unleash a herd of extra horses. With 225kW, the A35 has more power than all-wheel drive hotties such as the Subaru WRX and Volkswagen Golf R.

The transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch auto, also with AMG modifications. Even the electronically controlled clutch at the heart of the car's 4Matic all-wheel drive has AMG-developed software.

AMG gave the A35's body and chassis similarly thorough treatment. Extra panels and braces under the engine compartment increase stiffness where it counts. Front and rear suspension feature many new AMG specific parts.

The brake discs are the same size as the previous A45 but the front rotors are clamped by new four-piston calipers. The A35 also has more direct steering than the standard A-Class.

New-design front and rear bumper panels endow a more macho look — AMG spent more time and money making the car's interior special.

Some of the changes are obvious, for example the extra AMG-specific switches on the steering wheel, sports seats and new centre console layout. The three different AMG-designed driver-selectable instrument displays, among other touches, are noticeable only on start-up.

But it's the driving that proves beyond doubt that AMG went all-out to make the A35 something special. On the winding roads of Majorca, site of the A35's presentation to international media, the car showed real depth of talent.

It's not as quick as the old A45 (there's a new A45 in the pipeline) but the A35 is superior in every other way.

Its steering is super-sharp and the A35's front-end grip is terrific. There's more suspension excellence at the rear, endowing the car with a sense of beautifully balanced equilibrium.

On the smooth and winding roads of Spain's big Mediterranean island, the Mercedes-AMG made carving countless corners no chore at all. The big brakes never wilted and the all-wheel drive never failed to deliver ample grip when accelerating.

The engine has plenty of punch from low in its rev range and throttle response is good compared with other turbo fours.

The A35 also gives its driver a great degree of control over the way it behaves. The combination of settings can match almost any mood.

With the Sport + driving program, ESP Sport Handling and manual shifting selected, the Mercedes-AMG is set for speed. The engine and transmission are more responsive, the steering becomes weightier and a valve in the exhaust opens to unleash extra raspy decibels.

This is no one-trick pony, however. Dial everything back and the A35 becomes a smooth riding and none-too-noisy hot hatch, ready for comfortable commuting or cruising.

This A35 is a hot hatch with a broader than usual spread of ability, and no shortage of speed. Worth waiting for? Definitely ...

MKChip-DKR Bumps Up Mercedes-AMG A35 Slightly With Stage 1 Upgrade

Until the full-blown 45 versions come out, the AMG A35 is the top dog in the new A-Class family.

Naturally, the "baby Merc-AMG" has already attracted the interest of tuners. MKChip-DKR, for one, has developed a new software that increases output to 341 PS (336 hp / 251 kW) and 505 Nm (372 lb-ft) of torque.

By extracting a relatively modest 35 PS (35 hp / 26 kW) and 105 Nm (77 lb-ft) more from the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the German tuner claims that the 100-200 km/h (62-124 mph) acceleration has been improved by 1.6 seconds.

McChip can also increase the top speed to 285 km/h (177 mph) for an extra buck. Furthermore, Stage 1 upgrades are available for other versions of the new-gen A-Class as well, like the A200, A220 and A250 models.

Even in stock form, the new A35 is pretty nifty despite being the weakest AMG model in Merc's catalogue. The 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint takes 4.7 seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph), while its compact proportions, similar performance and all-wheel drive system put it in the same class as the Volkswagen Golf R and all-new BMW M135i, both pretty serious pieces of kit.

Mercedes, though, is getting ready to upstage all of thjem with the new A45. The future Audi RS3 Sportback challenger will become the most powerful production hot hatch in the world, with reports claiming that the A45 S will have as much as 421 PS (415 hp / 310 kW) in "S" guise. Considering that the previous-gen A45 hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds with "only" 381 PS (376 hp / 280 kW) at its disposal, it's not hard to figure out that the new one might drop to somewhere around 3.5 to 3.7. Which, any way you slice it, is truly mega.

Does The Mercedes-AMG A35 Perform As Advertised In The Real World?

This is the most affordable AMG money can buy, yet due to the fact that it slots under the upcoming A45 and A45 S and doesn't pack the grunt we're used to from Affalterbach's products, it was initially met with some skepticism.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7akDCgeoaM

The truth is, while all those arguments are valid, there's lots to like about the A35, starting with its performance. With 4.7 seconds for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint and a 250 km/h (155 mph) electronically limited top speed, it sure is pretty fast. As it should, given that its 2.0-liter turbo four puts out 306 PS (302 HP) and is hooked up to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive.

You may be wondering if those numbers are achievable in the real world by the average Joe – which is exactly what Motorsport Magazine's latest video is all about. We won't spoil the outcome, but let's just say that the "baby AMG" delivers on its promises.

With that kind of output, we were never in doubt about that top speed. What the footage reveals is that the A35 accelerates pretty hard even after the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark, and although it doesn't max out, with a bit more space it would have hit that limiter easily.

Why not?

The "average Joe" has no idea what torque loading is (either by name or conceptually) and would probably assume it would instantly blow up their transmission or something.
