Generating more HP by increasing the redline is kinda worthless, though.

IIRC, peak power still happens at about the same RPM as the earlier Coyotes.  They just gave it more over rev.  I'd love another 500 RPM (or slightly taller rear end ratio).

For the most part, all it does is let them advertise a higher HP number.

AutoXers always like a higher redline, but I'm sure that wasn't the reason for doing it.

Why does it look like it has a Fusion grill all of a sudden
Same look minus the pony.

Not if you crank it up.

I could probably get 500 hp out of my engine if I just changed the rev limiter from 6500 to 8000.

I'd have to rebuild it immediately, but I bet I could do it that one time.

If your peak power hits before 6500, increasing revs will not increase power.  Even if it peaks at 6500, you may not see any gains just by increasing revs.  Need to be able to breathe at effectively at those RPMs to make more power.

You're right, I simplified a lot. The engine is built around the 6500 limit, so some pieces would have to be swapped out. (650 carb swapped to a 750 or 850, manifold swapped to a single-plane)

You'd most likely need a different cam profile and different valve sizes.

Just drop in an Aluminator XS Crate Engine.  A lot simpler, and you get a 24,000 mile/2 year warranty. :ohyeah: No flying push rods either.

Lingenfelter makes a nasty destroked LS7 that'll rev to 8000+.

Then there's this: https://www.enginelabs.com/engine-tech/engine/efi-universitys-9500-rpm-destroked-ls-how-much-will-it-make/
Naturally aspirated - 867 horsepower peaking at 8,640 rpm, and 563 lb-ft of torque at 6,540 rpm.

Not sure of the point of the exercise but, anyways, I was only kidding.  I would no more recommend a Ford engine for a Chevy than vice versa.

Interesting stat though, in respect to piston stroke, the 289 Windsor had a 2.87 inch stroke; shorter than pretty much any destroked LS.

The first generation Boss 302 and Camaro Z28 were the closest things to twins that Ford and Chevy ever built.  Both over square 4" bore 3" stroke high revving little horsepower fiends.  I could've gone for either one at the time.  Almost did until the wife, of the time, insisted on an automatic.  Ended up with a Mach I.

You might make more average power

I remember when I swapped the intake manifold on my first Accord.... it seriously felt like it gained 20-30HP at the fuel cutoff. It was appreciably faster as is but with the revs and gearing to cash in it probably would have been even faster

I still contend that a flat plane pooprod would rock

Just raising the rev limiter on a car that peaks before redline will not increase peak power.  It's not a trick to inflate spec sheet numbers.  More revs might give you more average power, but it greatly depends on breathing at higher RPMs and how quickly power falls off.  A number of engines sign off very quickly after peak.

Disillusioned Chevy fans :nutty:.  Acronym for Fords with Chevy engines = FUF.

I actually think that looks pretty cool. I think it would be a huge mistake to position it against the RS7, and Panamera though. I would argue that the Chevy SS failed in part because, while a good value, it was ultimately to expensive. Also, a four door Mustang would cannibalize the two door version (as is almost always the case, no matter what the market segment) still they might ultimately draw in more customers.

So Ford is killing off all their cars and apparently coming out with these kinds of shit ideas to tarnish and sedate the Mustang name?

'If such a vehicle were to come to fruition, the forum speculates, it would be distinct from a new Ford crossover, previously referred to as the Mach 1 but now expected to carry a different name, that's said to be inspired by the Mustang. That new model will be all electric and will have a taller profile.'

"Nooo! Change!!!!" - car guys

A FORD fighting Audis and BMWs is a mistake, but if this is priced logically I think it will generate more profit (read: positive) than the old mainstreamers. Ford has been trying and mostly failing to profitably sell mainstream sedans for the last 30 years.............. it's time for CHANGE

If by "Audi Q7" fighter they mean "a car resembling the A7 at a much lower price point", ok.  Basically a more direct competitor to the Kia Stinger (which is being called a Mustang for people who need 4 doors).
