Best AWD sedans under $50k (reasonably equipped) on sale today...
Criteria (1 most important)
1) Driver involvement (handling, steering, engine, trans, sound)
2) Family of 4 space... interior + trunk
3) Fuel economy
4) infotainment... cause who cares about infotainment
Vote!! :heated:
Genesis G70 is nice.
Some version of the A4 followed closely by C Class. At least until the new 3er arrives in a few months or so.
A4 is nice but so damn boring... its like as boring an an F30 but with a less interesting engine
Honestly there is a fairly small number of interesting awd sedans anymore. All the r&d is going to crossovers -sad panda-

AWD tends to be boring with few exceptions. WRX STi?
Or M5/E63S for double the price. The E43 is also very good (mags say so) and I liked an M550i that I autocrossed a few months ago for 70% more money.
The new WRX/STi is definitely a lot better of an overall package then the old ones as a car. Definitely a lot more refined.
However the STi is manual only (not wife friendly) and the WRX is a cvt for the automatic... and then there is the "ok" but relatively stone age engine and abysmal mileage.
Mazda 6?
At one point I had a man crush on a Mazdaspeed 6... I've read rumors of a new awd 6 but I think it's vaporware at this point and mazda seems to have completely abandoned its mazda speed tuner mentality.
This makes me sad
A neighbor got a slamming deal on a Fusion Sport... Decent power (but doesn't feel as fast as it should) and I wouldn't call it all that well sorted either.
But it sort of is an interesting thing until it's soon to be dead

It's mos def the A4, no question. That DSG is brilliant, and makes that 252 hp feel like 300-325 hp.
I think the Audi S3 is a more fun car than the standard A4 and IMHO the backseat is very usable. To me the smaller size and lighter weight of the S3 trumps the "true" AWD of the A4. Technically the S3's engine is more powerful but I'd guess they are pretty similar in every day use (except that the A4 is heavier).
The WRX and STI would both be nice. Personally I prefer a hatchback but if you like the sedan form factor these are hard to beat for the price.
A4 is a disappointment for me. I'd go 3er over it even with the flaccid chassis tuning as at least xdrive has a RWD feel to it. I'm not a fwd fan.

A lovely car. I'd be tempted.
Go for it. We need better cars on the forum. Or CR-V of. course.
Only $50k? Surely you have more in your 401k
Read C&D's 10 month update on their Giulia QF. A lot of the problems they had carry over to the base cars.
My vote is an AWD Q50. Powerplant is up to you. Coilovers, tires, sport package and passing on digital steering will make it interesting

Oops maybe it's not AWD yet. Could have swore it was in the press release but I didn't see it. Appears an AWD model has been crash tested though.

Interesting choice. I totally forgot about that car. The high output engine is supposed to be really quick, and I think they look really good (save for that hideous swooping chrome C-pillar). Interior is kind of a mess though with the dual screens.
I'm all in favor of the Giulia but haven't you learned your lesson about FCA from your Jeep?

Infiniti interiors look like shit ergonomically but they have so many redundant inputs it doesn't matter. Plus I think they have Android Auto/Apple Carplay (via update!). Def worth a look. Just don't expect a miracle

Close...
Infiniti is worth looking into. Isn't there an AWD Genesis coming out in this segment. Also, Stinger seems ok.
Not a sedan but M240i? Do you need the rear doors?
I have an rx8... No need for another cramped car
Q50 in any guise is a fairly terrible car - good power, but that's it. Terrible AT, terrible infotainment, terrible steering. Shame, because the refreshed MY2018 Q50 RS400, with full exterior LED lighting (finally), is the best looking sedan for sale today.
I don't see much appealing about the Q50... Looks like the sport awd versions start at $50k and most of the car is aweful
Might as well change the thread title to "r0tor's Giulia thread"... not sure why you even bothered to ask what we thought.

It's the only option presented you haven't written off
And we know how you are once you make up your mind.
I thought that was the point of the thread... To find the best awd driver's sedan under $50k...
If the Giulia is the best at ticking the boxes, so what?
Gulia is about the last car on the market I would buy.
It's about as old styling as you can get for a "new" car, it's not sporty like a German luxury car, but it's got AWD, RWD dynamics, big car footprint with lots of space inside and big trunk, and it's quiet. V8. And it's way under $50,000. Chrysler 300.
For some reason the Charger kinda sucks as a daily driver but the 300 is great.

I don't know what could possibly be a better endorsement for alfa... Has no appeal to the poser crowd -shrug-

You are the king of reliability scaremongering. Go to a Giulia forum. The car ain't perfect but a million miles better than your perception.

Yeah, poseurs prefer CRVs.

Good info IMO. Get the Giulia.
If you want it, then go ahead. It ain't my money.
But let's not pretend it's the paragon of reliability. I have a couple friends who have new Fiat group cars, and they're kind of dumpy.

You are just afraid I might turn out to be right about S65/S85 rod bearings or the myriad of N62 issues. But I don't make this shit up. I bring these things up because not even r0tor deserves the hell of an unreliable car. Warranty coverage doesn't give cover time and hassle.

The jeep honestly hasn't been bad. In 8 years a shock, a door lock, and a thermostat... and last week I changed brake pads for the first time in 75k miles.
The focus is worse. A new clutch pack basically every 10k miles. The thing has to go even though it's low mileage and looks new inside/outside as I only have another year or so left of the extended transmission warranty.
Also the only reliability survey I've seen
