The Porsche Military Camouflage

Porsche hasn?t reached an agreement with some country?s army, but on Dutch guy definitely is original. Because this Porsche 911 Carrera 4S with full military camouflage paint is something new....

Have you seen this type of car in real? :)

I've got 20 bucks that says it's wraped with a vinyl car wrap product.

It would be cheaper than a paint job and when it gets old(or sells) he just peels it off to reveal the factory color. All you are really out are the stock wheels painted olive drab, a 2000 dollar fix at most(peanuts on a 70K car).

Reminds me of something Volvo was doing, using vinyl wrap to let customers customize their cars from the factory without a pricey paint job.

That, and the money you spent on the wrap in the first place (although it may be a great way to preserve the paint: win some, lose some).

Some of those wraps can cost as little as 5-600 bucks, overall a very cheap investment compared to an actual repaint. Selling automotive paint everyday i can tell you that the paint required to do that would easily cost 700-800 dollars JUST FOR THE PAINT. Tack on another grand or two for labor and it would turn into a 4 grand job pretty quick and you would have to spend that again to return it to the original color. So 8 grand for a two way painting or 600 bucks for a wrap and an hour to peel it off. It's not even close.

I've seen some nice wraps, i've considered doing it to one of my cars before.

That camouflage is the OLD US military "woodland camo"-

Many other countries have been using our Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) and will for a while, but it's still dated already..

I don't think he's actually going for camouflage to hide anything, more for the effect.

I never saw any Dutch Army using 'commercial' vehicles.

I also saw tiny Fiat Puntos in camo, including the hubcaps. The Germans have Golfs, Polos, and vans that are camo'd out...   :-)

Not quite that easy when we de-stripe a patrol car we have to send it out to a detailer who uses some kind of stuff to get it off and it takes him about 3-5 days to do it and about $150 to us.  That vinal stuff is s-u-p-e-r sticky and doesn't just peel off- it's so bad that some departments just spray paint over their symbol.

As I understand it, there are several different grades of that stuff, and some of it is meant to be removed more easily.
