Like all the new Nakamichi Akira Lexuses I like it. Gets my seal of approval though it might alienate the coach bag mom base
I like it and would totally encourage my mom to go for one if she wanted a crossover
I'd have thought it would make more sense to keep the RX relatively conservative and leave the NX as the small, sporty one -- the ES vs. IS vibe. But then again, in my opinion the 2003 RX was fairly boldly styled for its day and it did fine.
There's no talk of the RX here because this forum isn't comprised of middle-aged trophy wives.
Sorry was too busy taking the kids to soccer practice and shopping at Forever 21 in the mall to notice.
Everything but the front overhang is kinda cool. That front overhang is huuuuuuuge.

Agreed, needs more wheelbase. Might have all that overhang to absorb the energy for crash tests tho.
I really love Lexus' interiors. There's no head on dash shot but thats irrelevant. Its a shame they don't make a car I would buy though.
I've said it before, if they made a 6MT IS350 F, I'd be so down. That's not to say the ZF 8AT isn't brilliant, I'd just like a manual in my DD.
Meh...the front overhang plus the LM2000 style wheel arches are off-putting. It looks like a Toyota Venza (which it is based on, no?) with a lot of tacky styling cues. It's going to age terribly.
Lexus got it 95% right with the new GS (save for the gaping mouth) but this looks terrible.
The GS looks really old.
I really love the new RX.
The front overhang is hilarious.
Front overhang looks par for course for a FWD CUV. It'll look fine in person.

So much better
and it will fit right in with all the other 4000 lbs "sport" options out there.
Look out mustang and camaro, automakers are looking to lower their suv's and bring the competition to you!!!!

Those are all 4cyl vehicles from a class below, and not at the same angle
They're all taken from the same angle dude.
What class does that Lexus belong in anyway?
The blacked-out C-pillar reminds me of the new Maxima.
Welp, the prior RX was a rebadged Toyota Harrier, so there wasn't really anything to be done with styling. This new gen however is a standalone model, hence the departure in styling.

Actually, the last/outgoing generation is/was its own car. First and second generation RXs ('99-'09) were rebadged Harriers.

The RX is the size of an Edge, not an Escape.

Maxima? They just flipped the c pillar of the Murano upside down.
Weird that two separate companies came up with the same design feature.
Garbage.
Ew.
Absolutely hideous. Dreadful.
I don't mind the edgy design, but that front overhang and the lack of distance between the front doors and the front tires... damn! :mask:

I think it looks great.
I don't think eveerything needs to have FR proportions to look good.
I'm digging the proportions of the RX because they're kinda awkward (not really)

Ye most MR sports cars have Pontiac Bonneville grade front overhang.
Unfortunately this thing aint no MR sports car (or Pontiac Bonneville)
I think if they lessened the visual heft of the nose it wouldn't be as bad. They are also going to have to tone down the detailing. This thing makes me appreciate the current gen... it's actually a pretty good looking CUV.

I think they got it just right. I absolutely LOVE the new NX, and I see them everywhere already.
Yeesh this thing looks horrific. What were they thinking?!?

It's gross. It's the car version of Rosie O'Donnell masturbating.
I really like the way this looks

It looks like a hazard to pedestrians.
It's so edgy.
I'm surprised they went so edgy with it given the typical rx buyer is my mom.
Lexus has already gotten the well healed Moms. It's the Dads who generally buy these SUVs for the Moms they need to convince, in order to even further increase sales. A lot of Dad's wouldn't buy the older generation RX for their wives because they would often need to drive the family SUV. They'd get an Audi Q5 or MB M class instead. Now these Dads can feel comfortable in their masculinity and buy the new RX for their wives.

Problem is they've gone so crazy with the styling the wives won't want it anymore.
I can see it now. Mr. and Mrs. Welloff (get it?) are standing in the Lexus showroom. Mr. Welloff says "Snookums, here's you new Lexus RX!" Mrs's Welloff's reaction to the wheeled monstrosity sitting before her is so dramatic she almost drops her poodle/rat dog. She whines "Daddy (he likes it when she calls him Daddy!), I can't be seen driving this...uh...THING! It's sooooooo ugly! What have they done to my RX? The girls at the club will laugh at me and we won't be invited to all the RIGHT parties anymore. We'll become social outcasts!"
Mr. and Mrs. Welloff quickly make their exit and drive straight to the nearest Audi dealership because one of Mrs. Welloff's social peers is always gushing about the soft, inoffensive looks of her Q5. That friend, by the way, is named Ayllesssohn. It's pronounced Allison but, for some unknown reason, rich people always like to use bizarre spellings for their names.
Nope, the similarly aggressively styled NX is flying off lots and IIRC is outselling the MKC and Q5, and is really close to X3 volume
This RX will do fine. Especially since it sounds like they've dialed out some of the float (although it's not like big cars like the X5 are *good* to drive) and made the styling more distinct - they'll likely attract new customers.
Especially since BMW's can be hard to maintain. Not uncommon for an X5 to eat two quarts of oil and a not insignificant amount of coolant before its FIRST oil change.
Good chance this'll be in my parents garage in a few months

I like it, however, the F-Sport uses the LF-A-inspired virtual dash, which I find abominable, and a deal breaker.

Looks good. I don't get the complaints about the front overhang. Most of those stub-nose miniSUVs pictured look absolutely terrible.
too angular for me, and I saw one in person in a parking lot, the taillights have a huge amount of black plastic around the edges
