Called the Carolina Squat locally, this can't be just around this state---maybe the Southeast? Anyone seen this outside of....I dislike being insulting, but......redneck country?

The NC legislature is looking into passing a bill to ban these vehicle modifications as dangerous. They cite poor visibility and instability. Techs say the vehicle's components needing lubrication are starving for oil, namely the engine and trans.
I imagine when gas hits $5/gal, the front ends will return to normal, except for the rich kids.
This disease hasn't spread to the West coast yet.

These things are all over this area of NC. It reminds me of the 90s when people would recline the driver's seat to drive. When moving the car into the shop, I couldn't see, and we were not suppose to adjust anything in the car.
Bumper heights should be universally enforced.
It's mainly a Carolina thing. Sometimes I'll see a truck with a slight squat elsewhere in the country but never to the extreme that the Carolina boys do it
"Micropenis!"
Oh myyy... Please don't make it up north
Apparently old Ford Taususes with sacked out rear springs were trend setters...

It just looks stupid. :nutty:
Overlegislation. I'd first make laws banning ridiculous bull bars which probably cause a lot more damage/fatalities before banning this modification, albeit a stupid modification this is.

There are already federal regulations on vehicle bumper heights. It's why semi-trucks all have under-ride bumpers to keep cars from wedging under a trailer and decapitation the occupants in a rear-end collision.

I would mandate and enforce uniform bumper heights rather than calling out specifics. Bumper height mismatches in crash are lethal for passenger cars and especially pedestrians.
That level of bad taste may well indicate a mental disorder.

Agreed, I think a lot of outright asshole behaviors would go away if more people sought counseling. We're suffering from jerk cope.
Lift kits are expensive, some can only afford half

So this is kind of like the mismatched rims trend?

Nah I was just kidding, this is totally intentional.
But now I want see someone put some 30" donk rims on the back of a Carolina squat truck, with tiny low rider 14" wire wheels up front.
It seems to be a big truck version of this:

The only problem with the '59 Impala is that the '59 El Camino is an extra 10% cooler.

Take that car, raise the front end, but keep the tail down; then add two spotlights at each windshield corner and you'll have a sample of the autos I saw growing up here in Eastern NC. In the sixties, there were two schools on raising a car, just never both ends at the same time. Rednecks preferred their cars tail end up like a dragster. Minorities preferred their cars tail down, like it was being launched from a dead stop. I remember some guys even put sandbags in the trunk to drop the tail down.
NORTH CAROLINA (WSPA) – Lawmakers in the North Carolina House of Representatives passed a bill that could ban a popular vehicle modification.
According to the sponsors of the bill, the Carolina Squat — also known as the Cali Lean or Tennessee Tilt— could pose a safety hazard to drivers.
The 'Carolina Squat' is when a truck is lowered or unmodified in the rear and raised at the front. This modification has the ability to block the driver's view of the road and drivers ahead of them.

A simple way to raise the rear-end was to reverse the shackles on the back of the leaf springs Got about a 3 inch rise on the rear, but if you didn't adjust the live axle in respect to the drive shaft, you'd mess up the differential; just a bit too much stress on the pinion bearing.
North Carolina has passed and signed a bill to outlaw the so-called Carolina Squat.
'Bout time.
