I may have forgotten something or stuck something there that looks kind of kooky. I went through each brand to see what sporty stuff they had to offer for under 25k. There's some weaksauce stuff and some ringers, but they are all under 25.7K (the Audi and WRX being the ones to sneak in).
Mini S coupe.
Voted for the Cobalt SS. Would take either of the Hyundais as well.
Jetta GLI. I like it, and it seems like it would be comfortable enough for daily use.
Toss-up between the Cobalt SS Turbo or the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8. In the end I went with RWD.
Either the V6 GenCoupe or the V6 Camaro. I'd have to give them both a test drive.
Gen Coupe 3.8, although Edmunds just did a comparo of the Genesis Coupe and the MS3 and the Mazda won (and they even used the 3.8 Track). Performance was closely matched (Genesis was faster, Mazda put up better handling numbers and generally felt sharper), but the Mazda came at a significantly lower price without sacrificing feature content, interior appointments, etc... I can't completely fault their logic, those are all the same reasons I'd take a Gen Coupe 3.8 base over a base Mustang GT. More features, better interior appointments, albeit a little bit slower, for $3000 less.
While I like the rear drive Genesis, I've always liked the Mini's feel when driving. And I simply like it the best of all the ones listed (though there are a bunch of good choices on the list).
MX-5
Uh, Miata, duh.
GTI
Really torn between the MS3 and GTI.
Both chevys have me torn! I voted RWD!
Ooh. MX5, Cooper S or GTI. Beyond that, I have no idea.
Too bad the Lancer Ralliart Sportback starts at $27k o_0
So, I had to go with MAZDASPEED3 Sport.
GTI or WRX.
I'd love to find a used 128i for that money.
EDIT: Crap, forgot about the Miata. That's very appealing as well.

Having a hard time choosing between the Civic Si sedan, the WRX and the Miata...
Since you made it a WRX 4-door which is like having your bowels pass through your mouth, I'd rather have the MS3.
Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback GTS
That thing is hot.

Except the one in the poll is the GTS, not the Ralliart (which starts at like $28K).
Went with the GTI... MS3 is fast, but with a little money the GTI can be as fast, but still look better. I would rather pony up the extra $$$ for the R32 or A4 2.0T...
MS3.
Was going to go with the Miata, but the Sport model has a vinyl top and only a 5 speed. Also thought about the Mini Cooper S, but I'd want a JCW model.
Since it's the WRX 4 door I choose Cobalt SS Turbo.
I'm abstaining from voting in this poll. I can't decide.
Chevrolet Cobalt SS Turbo. The ultimate sleeper.

Sleeper? I think it looks rather shouty.

You get the 4-door, delete the wing and tone down the paint job (maybe silver) and you have a car that looks like a Thrifty rental, that'll do a 14 second quarter mile and will handle like a champ.
no 4 door for 2010, but i think you can pull it off with the 2 door too....
I say leave it as is. Everyone will think we're just some punk in a riced-out Cavalier.
my money for my needs... 5 door WRX... which is why i'm looking at them now

I sat in the WRX STI Carbon on Sunday
ZOMG those seats are the best I've ever sat in

Those seats aren't coming here. In fact, the North American seats are completely different than any of the seats offered in the JDM WRX and STI models.

That sucks
I was loving life in that car. Seats that I literally couldn't move side to side in, a tach staring at me front dead center, red gauge lighting, and a telescoping steering wheel!!!

Yeah, our seats are wider and flatter in all WRX models. If you want something like that, order the seats from JDM-land or buy an Evo instead.

There's Subarus though!
I have a hard time deciding between the Miata and the MS3, but I'll go with the Miata

It's tempting, and I'm really trying to rationalize for my needs what would be a better fit.

Yeah, the WRX seats for the American market cars are pretty wimpy. I remember standing there looking at an '08 WRX and comparing it to an '08 Impreza that was right next to it on the lot and if the WRX had deeper bolsters, it wasn't something you'd spot at a glance. Then I looked at a leftover '07 that was parked nearby and that actually looked like it had aggressively bolster sport seats.
