Never, probably.

If gas prices don't improve, I think we'll see them by 2010.

Honda's supposed to have one by 2009, right?

That's the one I'm *really* looking forward to; diesels make more sense in mainstream cars whose buyers are more sensitive to fuel prices and economy.

Although I'd be more likely to pick up a 3-year-old Mercedes diesel if their prices ever become reasonable.

I wouldn't mind the engine, but I can't afford the Mercedes body that it comes with.

Does VW even sell diesels here anymore?

They had to stop in 2007 due to emissions regs, but their new cleaner diesels will be available in all 50 states starting in 2008 with the Jetta.

The Tiquan is also supposed to get a diesel, but unfortunately the Rabbit doesn't look like it will get it.

Its sounds like a nice engine too...much more powerful then the old oil burner, yet its also cleaner and gets better mileage.

They are overpriced. The E320 CDI starts at like $75k CAD.

Yeah, the Jetta diesel's coming out, and I think the next Rabbit will have a diesel engine.

I'm so sad that that's like $100K USD now... :(

On the upside, the car's just cheaper here...

In the meantime, could you tone down the font size?

What's so overpriced about it? You get a comfortable, reasonably sporty and good handling car with excellent safety features and ratings and now apparently high JD Power marks. Plus, you get a fast, fun and frugal engine too and the MB badge. It's bound to get you laid.  :praise:
