Loca.
Previously the Lavida was just named ?Model Y? but a screen shot of a Shanghai VW meeting of a Power Point presentation revealed that the Shanghai VW line up of cars was in for a treat.

The Lavida is expected to see production around June or July this year, prices are expected to be around 100,280rmb and rising. What engine will go in this car, we dont know. Will the rumoured Chinese made 1.4TSI find a place in this cars heart? We hope so. VW did once say the TSI range of engines will be produced in China. If the TSI is not in sight, then we can guess a 1.6l engine or perhaps share the 1.8T with the latest Sagitar (Jetta) . The Lavida will be built off the PQ34 platform, which is shared amongst a few models, namely the Sagitar (Jetta) new Beatle, Golf, Seat Leon, Audi TT, Audi A4, Skoda Octavia etc. The Chinese press have called this car a mini Phaeton, and are currently saying the Lavida will easily get 8,000 sales in 2008.

One small problem. The A4 is not on the A platform.
Something about it reminds me of a Kia.

The rear.
Looks smart, if a bit dull.
When I saw the first picture (front) I thought, hmmm looks better then our Passat but the rear of the car... Looks like two different design teams did the front and the rear.
Lavida: The Mini-Phaeton! What's next - the Chevrolet Aveo lauded as the next ZL1 Corvette?
Looks ok, nothing special.

The 3 is right next to the 4, so it's possible.

Anyhow, tasteful front.. the rear looks Kia or even previous gen sentra. It's like they fused to small cars together.

The front of that VW made me think "noot bad" and then I saw the rear.
Arg! It looks like the old Camry! :banghead: :(

That is one strange taste in auto design that they have in China.
Eh, yeah, just as bland as I thought it would be. I expected more from VW.

When was the last time VW made a non-bland car? All their current lineups are bland. Only thing they make that's not bland comes from other brands.

......which are all trim levels. Even with the aero kit and wheel packages, they're still a bit boring looking.
Well I like designs like the pre facelift Touareg and the Phaeton. A clean uncluttered design. I can see how some one can find that a bit bland however.
Bland?

Compared to the camry of the same year, No. Compared to everything else, yes.
It's attractive, well-preportioned, but not
exciting to look at.
Someone already tagged the cars in those spy pics......oh :mask:
