A good dealership would have taken the window sticker off and laminated it for him.  He's going to have sticky gunk all over that window until he razor blades it off.

He can spray it with Goo Gone to get that sticky shit off.

Atleast he got a black one, wonder how much over sticker he paid.

Considering the 100 R32 GT-Rs sold new in Australia cost AUD$110,000 back in 1989, the projected AUD$150-170k for the new GT-R is remarkable value indeed.

I need to go to the Nissan Dealer this weekend.. I believe Universal Nissan was allocated the largest amount of GTR's in the US. I believe Cerritos was 2nd. I will take some pics of the prices.

Or he can just rub it off with his finger. :nutty:

Must be exciting to have the first one. Black is a good color for that car too

If you read the whole thread at the link the guy got a early imported JDM GT-R. So he's had a JDM one for a few months and then bought the first USDM car, that seems alittle strange to me but whatever works.

They claim he paid sticker...$72,900(I'm guessing OTD.)

He must be good friends with that dealership owner or is owed a big favor.

How was it legal here?

No.  Really.

Uh...I've done it before to 3 or 4 new cars, it's pretty easy. The goo sticks better to your hand and itself than it does glass.

It's just like peeling the adhesive strip off the back of a gift-card.

BMW must use some pretty powerful window glue then.  Everyone razor blades it at work.

Because of the new GT-R, I'd venture to say that his car is way overpriced.

Anyone know how many legal R32's are in this country?  I saw one a few months back around here.

There are a whole bunch in Canada.  Then, Motorex certified a some until they shut down because of the R34 debacle.  And finally, there are the old "show and display" people, as well as people who ship the cars over in bits and register them as kit cars.  There's no real way of knowing.

I'd venture to say that you would be right, but unlike a certain infamous $10.5k Intrepid, odds are this seller will get the $58.9k.

It's a beautiful show car, if nothing else.  I wouldn't doubt it...

...And I am in no way referring to the Police Interceptor-R/T-ES-Special Edition-300M-TIPTRONIC-like-thing we both know of.

How much do you want to bet that the car will be a CSL at some point in its lifetime?

It probably will be.  He'll spend the $50 to get a badge from Germany just to say he has it.

I'd like to see the car become RWD, though.  They do have conversions for that sort of thing.

Fair enough.  Still a pretty rare and random car to see in an Olive Garden parking lot.  Everyone with me thought it was strange I got excited over such a mundane looking car.  I had to explain that it was pretty rare.  They didn't believe me.  When I pointed out the steering wheel was on the right side, they finally got it.

All of this is true.

It was down in a suburb of Dayton, back where I'm from originally (where I went to high school and my parent's house is).  It's only about 15-20 minutes from campus.

+1

I guess it would be possible to rub the extra glue off but it would take atleast 20min. I quick shot of glass cleaner and a razor blade is the way I do it.

Same here.  I've done the rubbing with the finger, but a razor blade and windex is so much quicker.  The adhesive that NYS uses for the registration stickers is particularly resilient, it always takes a bit of elbow grease to pull those guys off.

It took me about 40 seconds to rub it off my Aveo. Maybe they used cheap glue for a cheap car.

Perhaps the larger point is that it can be done easily, by a variety of methods.

BACK on topic, who would want to go through all that press and publicity just to pick up your new car? The dude should have jumped in and left while the dealership was pontificating.

"This is the only place this sale could have come from. (be-beep) We're the number one Nissan dealer in the nation. (thunk) The first to sell the Z. (vvvvrrrr) And not the first to sell the GT-R! (eEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR). Hey, HEY! Get back here! Come back here!...........Uhhhhh...."

Me too. Red seems to be the best color, though black isn't bad.

There's a good chance that his deal included agreeing to the publicity.

He didn't have the keys until after the dude got done talking.
